More flood information

Okay, you lovely people. Event going on this weekend and we have some plot info for you. (I did promise it for tonight, even if we are, technically, into the early morning now.)

On Wednesday there's going to be a steady, heavy rain. On Thursday the rain will get heavier and light flooding will start in certain areas and basements. Friday will feature big thunderstorms, the park will be completely soaked, boats will be made available to people because people can see the way this kind of stuff goes by now, and the cause of all of this rain will make itself officially known. That will happen ICly as well and people will be able to react as they would to such a thing. *is vague*

On Saturday, the ground will shift to accommodate the different buildings that want to/don't want to get flooded, various sea creatures (mostly mer-people) will move into businesses and homes. This will be largely non-violent, but you can try to chase them out. Or, if you'd like to have more fun with it, if your business will be underwater you can feel free to load a mer-person icon (which will be up on [livejournal.com profile] fh_extras by then) onto your account and have then run the business for the weekend having claimed it for themselves. There will be some areas of the island where you can pick fights with creatures. Those posts will be clearly labeled and open for all kinds of water fighting fun!

Also on Saturday there will be a library post where those who are so inclined to research the revealed cause can do so. If you think your character would end up in this research session, please drop a comment to this post and let us know. We have some specific things that will need to be hit upon in the research so there should be some planning. NOTE: Signing up does NOT mean you have to be there, nor does not signing up keep you from showing up. We're just trying to get things set up to run smoothly.

Finally on Saturday, refuge will be provided to people who have been flooded out. If you have extra space for people with places with wet homes, please drop a comment to this post. We will hold you to signups in that thread.

Sunday will feature more storming, probably another optional fighty post or two, and a finale.

Monday morning, the flood will be gone, the ground will shift back to normal, and we'll probably have some new fish in the lobby.

And there you have it, the written map of the weekend. It'll mostly be a struggle against the elements with some completely optional fighting. And probably some crack. Like I can resist a performance of Under the Sea when I have a chance to do it. Actually, I hadn't even considered that until just now. I should get that cleared because I really want to do it.

MCA # -3 in the sub-basement is unoccupied and will be dry. It's a 2-bedroom, 2 bath, for the sake of convenience let's say it's furnished, and can probably house 4-6 refugees comfortable, more if they're camping in the living room.

On Saturday I'll probably put up an MCA post with foodstuffs in the lobby and directions to the apartment, but if for some reason the post itself doesn't go up, the space is still open for people to handwavily say they're staying there, post from, etc.

The apartment above Turtle&Canary will be dry (not sure about the store but it will probably be under water).

Apu lives in it just now so, you'd be rooming with him.

Naomi would end up helping with the research.

The small apartment above ABIS will be dry, although the office itself won't be. At the moment Aiden's using it mostly for storage so a couple of people could camp out there for the weekend.

The Post Office will be flooded, but the clock tower and second floor will be dry. There's basic facilities, so it wouldn't exactly be luxury, but it also includes a golem so it will be *extremely* safe.

People are welcome to take refuge there.

Hmmm, is it getting a bit moist around here?

Could. Not. Resist.

I fail at using the proper account at the moment, but the apartment above Fina will remain dry- if nobody minds rooming with a candelabra.
The main floor will, however, be flooded, so you'll also be swimming through the kitchen and past disgruntled cooking staff to get there. At least with the cutlery on your side, you won't have to worry much about anything invading the living space.

Phoebe would probably be into reserach -- if she can be separated from her newly alive soulmate. :)

Shall I assume that Sat night Willow could take a boat to get to the radio station to do her report?

Yondaime's place should be dry at least on the upper floors and there's at least 2 free rooms in the house.

Luke's will be dry, and supplied with hot coffee and food for anyone who wishes to subject their character to sleeping in cramped booths or on the floor.

Being glared at or otherwise ill-treated by the sullen proprietor? Available upon request.

Leo has crash space available in his apartment above the Photo Hut. It's surprisingly clean, has a well stocked larder, and girls can have the bed, he'll take the couch.

What about one of those old Roman-type ships with folks at the oars? Only it's a squirrel that bangs the drum to keep everyone in time.

Yay, gargle! Also a fun word: pontificate.

Is it OK to mod a few stray lightning bolts for Thursday evening? Not to hit anything, just to be loud and scary?

(Not any louder or scarier than normal lightning/thunder. My girl's storm-phobic.)

After pontificating for a bit (you're right!), I say sure. I'll get a weather post up at some point stating that there will be thunderstorms rolling in later tonight.
