Giles is bored! Help? I'm a newbie, so I don't feel up to engineering a plot all by my lonesome, but if any of you have been just waiting for a Giles to wander into town to do something, please let me know!

Perhaps a joint investigation of something? Giles can be the brain, and Alfred the brawn? (No, I'm really not kidding with that one...)

Quite possible. Alfred is ex-British Intelligence and has all sorts of interesting connections.
