Itsy bitsy, teeny weeny, yellow polka dot....plotlet
I have a cunning plan plotlet!
For her Sex Ed class, Seras was given the pheremone lotion to find something to do with. I wracked my brains and came up with the idea that her putting it on would cause Seras and anyone interacting with her to come down with a case of Purple Prose.
Basically, even if their interaction is something as simple as a quick 'Good Morning!', it would be written in a very over-the-top, flowery adverby, Harlequin Romance Novel type way.
Seras will be putting on the lotion tonight before going to bed, and the Purple Urple Effect will begin first thing Wednesday morning. The character will only be affected for as long as he or she is interacting with Seras, and since chemistry is a funny thing, it's totally up to the individual whether or not they get all Purple Prosey.
If anyone's not quite sure what I mean when I say 'Purple Prose', I've written a small example.
Ophelia sauntered lithely, her movements as beautifully graceful and hypnotizing as those of a swan as it drifted aimlessly along the smooth face of a pond. Aurora's fair glow, faintly muted by the window's lacy curtains, kissed Ophelia's radiantly luminescent complexion as she studiously set about getting ready for the lengthy day at hand. Her glimmering azure orbs took in the dawning day and her lips of dusky rosebud hue took on a sweet smile of joyously brimming anticipation.
Any one who's read fanfic knows what to do. Green eyes become 'glimmering verdant orbs'. 'Twinkle, twinkle, little star' becomes 'Scintillate, scintillate, diminuative asteroid'. The first word that comes to mind when writing is wrong, wrong, wrong. Grab your thesaurus and find a longer one. Then modify it with a couple adjectives and tack on an adverb for good measure.
I know we usually encourage *good* writing in Fandom, but I think this could be really fun.
Thanks!
