Err, actually, I'm kind of hoping it will be a problem.
Hi! Meet Moist (and yes, he's heard all the jokes) von Lipwig (pronounced Lipvig, and there will be an, I'm sure tl;dr, info post coming up on him soonish.) Currently the Post Master of the Ankh-Morpork Post Office, his reasonably settled life is about to get tipped upside down and spun topsy turvy.
Beginning Monday 19 February, mail service to the island is going to stop. No packages, letters, merchandise, nothing: the mail will cease to be delivered. What I'd really like is for this to annoy people, for characters to get tetchy, get irritated, get annoyed, and loudly if at all possible.
The reason for the lack of service? The being/person/entity/whatever that currently ensures smooth and efficient mail service to and from Fandom is going to pack up its kit and go home (Perhaps Wee Tinydom was just too much for it?), and this is what's going to bring Moist to Fandom.
Mail service won't resume until Moist arrives on the island, so there will be no mail from 19 February -2 March. ETA: Whoops! All the mail that's not been delivered will in fact be delivered on the 2nd of March!
This won't disrupt any form of electronic mail or person to person delivery, be it by FedEx or pigeon, so its affect on your character is opt outable by using a method such as those.
The Point of this Post, AKA: What do I need?
a) An idea of how many people would be willing to play along with this - if you could let me know here, that would be wonderful.
b) A person or people to complain to the Mayor that there's no mail! (Timing to be arranged.) Interested? Let me know!
c) Eventually, Moist will be looking to offer five lucky students (or unemployed Townies) the once in a life time opportunity to serve in the wondrous tradition that is the postal service [AKA: put up the post office post and interact with any customers]. Think of this as an expression of interest: if you've a character that might be interested, ping into this thread, and we can work the specifics out later.
Questions? I can probably come up with answers. Comments? I rather fear them, but go for it!
