Assemblies: S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G B-E-E

Yes, we're doing a spelling bee in a text-based RPG. Even I'm having trouble believing that we're doing this, but I'm the one who worked out how to do it, so I'd better start believing.

ANYWAY. For this Friday's assembly we will have a special guest host (that is, somebody who is around during the day to host the bee... so, not me) to lead a number of randomly picked students in the competition. There will, of course, be some odd rules. First of all, it will be a pop spelling bee. Nobody but The Tick and the guest host will know about it until Friday afternoon. The words will be a mixture of annoyingly easy and insanely difficult words. The participants will be chosen at random out of people who sign up in the comments to this post. They'll be alerted to their role on Thursday.

In order to make a spelling bee work in a text-based medium, the participants will ping into the thread for the first round, be assigned a word by our host, and will then have to spell it in classic spelling bee style. For example, "Tick. T-I-C-K. Tick." Obviously you'll know pretty quickly if your character spelled it right since, well, it's text. If they spell it right, go onto the next round and repeat the process. Remember, this is your character spelling and they can't read the words and cheat. :D

And then, because this could get far too complicated if it goes on for too many rounds, the spelling bee will be brought to an abrupt end in a classic Fandom way, so there may not be a winner. We'll see about that.

So, we need volunteers and suggestions as to who a good guest host would be. (We have a player to play the host, but I'm short on NPC suggestions, so I'm asking you the players.) Please use the appropriate OCD threads for stuff.

I would suggest Grover or somebody from Sesame Street.

I'm tempted to bitchily suggest Fergie since she loves spelling so much in her songs ;)

Hmmm...Peggy Hill from King of the Hill, Mr. Crocker from Fairly Oddparents, or any fictional cheerleader. What? They have to know how to spell.

heheheheh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_25th_Annual_Putnam_County_Spelling_Bee if anyone is musical enough to know this one then I'd be giggly. At the very least, there's some WEIRD words near the bottom that are in the show.

It's got a lot of chances in it for good improv, and a few people in the audience dancing around on stage with the actors and spelling. A VERY fun show. Somewhat like A Chorus Line but with little kids. And the one in Chicago at Drury Lane is like 10 minutes from my house. Huzzah!
