Character Ability Tally!! (because the memes weren't eating your afternoon enough)

WATCH ME SHAMELESSLY USE THE SAME POST AGAIN.

(I wrote it. I'm allowed to cannibalize it. Hush.)

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon1 power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Please be as thorough as possible, as this will help everyone out with plots and knowing who can fill what roles.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

(And naturally, there will be threads, so please wait for the rather long OCD or I will have to kill something Done! Have at it.)

1 In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

2 For those of you who had characters around the last couple years and just want to C&P what you put in the post then, here are some shiny links for you.

Yay for the Jedi!

Like all Jedi, Ben has the enhanced reflexes, telekinesis and empathic thing. And Jedi healing techniques--but he's very, very rusty on those. He also has perfect recall.

He's still pretty young, though, so he's still learning.

Ichigo is a shinigami which means a fair number of things so I will try to sum this up as best as I can:

1) Ichigo can see ghosts.
2) With the help of his badge (or other shinigami), he can leave his body to become a shinigami (think of spirits or guardian angels). He can touch and influence things both in the spiritual as in the living world while he is in this form. So when he is in a fight, the damage he does will influence his surroundings.
3) As soon as he leaves his body, Ichigo will be in possession of his zanpakutou (aka soul cutter). This is a sword with its own mind as you will. Every shinigami has his own zanpakutou which grants him a very distinct power. Ichigo's allows him to send a blast a very high spiritual energy at his opponent (with the result of making things go boom, think lightning if you want).
4) Ichigo can reach 'bankai' which is a higher level of strength. It will make his attack described above more powerful. It will also make him very, very, fast.
5) All these skills are only available to him when he's in spirit form. When he's just him, he can't use these attacks. (He can still see ghosts and spirits however.)

Isabel is telekinetic and capable of manipulating a number of objects at a time.

She's capable of creating a force field that will stop anything dangerous from touching her, i.e. flames, thrown things, etc.

She can also manipulate and change matter just by touching it and concentrating. She's very, very skilled at that.

It's also canon (at least per the Roswell post series books) that she can cause hair to grow, be it facial or a head of hair.

Track This
Zuko is a firebender which basically means that he can control fire. He can create it and 'bend' it to his will. On the show it is made clear that Zuko is still learning how to fully control firebending, but he has been rapidly improving and growing stronger.

He can breath fire, create flames, throw fireballs, set off sprinklers and many more fancy tricks. He is also able to protect himself against fire and keep himself from getting burned, but he can not do this forever.

Some firebenders are also able to bend lightning. This is a more difficult skill and one can not control lightning like they do fire, they can only direct it elsewhere. While Zuko has the potential to do this, he hasn't been able to accomplish it yet.

Robin can jump really high, or far, or fast, and due to his lack of a skeleton and being stuffed with whatever muppets are stuffed with, is very durable.

Anakin is the Martiest Stu ever to tromp through the SW-verse. He has enhanced reflexes, telekinesis, telepathy, empathy, and the ability to see the past and future. He also has the power of the mindwhammy and all of the stuff he learned as a Sith.

Not that he'd use it.

Probably.

He trains a guy to use the Force to yank a Star Destroyer out of the sky. You decide how good he is.

Eve's half Aspicio demon, which means she has sight-related powers. According to the author's website, since I'm way too lame to remember this right now: enhanced visual range (can see distant objects more clearly), can induce temporary blindness, can see through solid objects (produces a small window of 'x-ray vision').

Telepathy, empathy, telekinesis, and la la la I'm splitting this up to go in the other section even though I finally had a comprehensive list. She can also use the Force physically, using it in Force jumps and being speedy and she can sort of catch people with it. She's also pretty good at Force-throws, especially when pissed off.

Cable was infected with a techno-organic virus at birth, rendering half of his body cybernetic and relatively super-strong. He can interface with particular types of future technology, see through to the infra-red spectrum, and packs a mean punch from his left arm.

Also, he's linked to Deadpool in his bodyslide technology, which means he can teleport, but only if Wade comes along.

Yup, another Jedi.

Telepathy, empathy, enhanced senses, mindwhammy, ability to see the future occasionally.

He's not as powerful as his father, but it's pretty close.

So if you missed it up above, Helen has this arm...

Her right arm... well, that can be turned into pretty much anything - animate or inanimate. In the book she once turned it into a copy of a weird totem pole with vicious heads biting at each other till they drew blood. And of course, as the living blade - which looks like a bar of light - she can cut through the barriers to worlds and kill any demon of any size or level.

Buffy's a slayer (duh), which means she's got the handy dandy fighting capabilities and is really resilient, healing from injuries quickly. She's also got some enhanced senses that allow her to sort of sense vampires and invisible girls who might be sneaking up on her. She's had precognitive dreams, and has some nifty slayer collective memory, but she's not aware of that yet.

Teyla's ancestors were experimented on by a race called the Wraith. They had Wraith DNA mixed with their own, and through the magic of reproduction, Teyla's DNA still has traces of the Wraith kind. When a Wraith is nearby, she can sense them, and through practice in canon, she's been able to get into their heads and read their minds. The problem is, it's not exactly a secretive practice, and they can get into Teyla's head in return when she does that, and control her.

Sam has some demon blood in him. NO WE STILL DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THAT DOES. *grumbles* We're still assuming that the demonic blood is what gives him his visions and nightmares, and allows him to use the abilities of the demon's other special kids.

Ghanima is Pre-Born. She awoke to full, adult consciousness before birth, receiving the genetic memories of both her male and female ancestors. This means she's got a LOT of tau awarenesses in her head, basically going all the way back to the dawn of Humanity. Yes, they are genetic memory-imprints of real people. Yes, they're real. No, she's not crazy when she's muttering under her breath to people you can't see. What they know, she knows, be it combat or history.

Being Pre-Born also means she also has the Atreides Curse lingering at the fringes of her mind; Ghanima has the barest bit of prescience. It manifests as instinct and flashes of intuition, or through playing with the Dune tarot. If she thinks something is a bad idea? STOP. She's probably having a pre-cognitive moment.

Last, but far from least, anything a Bene Gesserit can do, Ghanima can do too. This involves using the Voice to control people, simulflow multi-tasking, limited teleportation via the Weirding Way, and Truthsaying (when in-tandum with the tau of Mohiam).

Teddy is half Kree and half Skrull. He's a shape shifter to the point where his body shifts automatically to avoid extreme injury.

Also? Really strong. I think he might be physically the strongest person on the island right now.

Re: Inherent Abilities

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2008-09-06 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Because of the Goa'uld that took over his former body, a residual trace remains in the clone (FH Kawalsky). All this means is that if there's a Goa'uld in close, close proximity he'll get a weird feeling that he can't explain. It's a very diluted version of the Goa'uld detection sense that former hosts have and is totally FH canon extrapolated from actual canon.

Being a unicorn. It's totally an inherent ability.

If the island is ever invaded by pre-adolescent girls, Jan and a pile of ribbons could stop them cold. Of course, Jan would then have to kill himself from shame.

I'm going to put the fighty stuff in combat, but he can run and run fast. A unicorn would pass a top racing thoroughbred like it was standing still, and he can jump an eight-nine foot wall. Seven/eight from a standing start (though he's going to pay for it with strained muscles), up to nine if he gets a run up at it with total ease.

His sense of smell is very good, as is his hearing.

ETA: I forgot to add that he's very strong. He can drag another unicorn across the ground if he sets his teeth into them, and he weighs well over 1200 pounds.

Gaspode is a dog. This means:

-- He can speak dog language to other dogs, and also to wolves.
-- He has an incredibly sensitive sense of smell.
-- He can run faster and jump higher than you might otherwise expect, even with the bum leg.
-- He can fit through fairly small openings.
-- He doesn't always get noticed right away, especially if he doesn't want to be.
-- He can smell really, really bad. Especially when wet.
-- He can lick his own balls.

Cassandra can literally "read" body language. This means two things:

When she is looking at someone she can tell a lot of what they're thinking from subtle posture clues as well as being able to predict their physical movements. This includes things like sensing moods and telling if someone is lying. It's not that she can't be fooled, it's just that most people don't have extensive training in lying with their body language to the extent that she can read them. If someone did have that training, she'd never know.

When she is not looking at someone, or for whatever reason can not see them, she has a very, very hard time figuring out what they mean. Words make less sense than movement.

Re: Inherent Abilities

[identity profile] the-lazy-genius.livejournal.com 2008-09-06 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Shikamaru can do all the things ninjas in his canon can do. This includes such insanity as: switching places with inanimate objects in a puff of smoke, running faster than the eye can see, sticking to surfaces (like ceilings) that people shouldn't stick to, using illusion stuff to look like someone or something else.

In addition Shikamaru has this weird and somewhat complex shadow power. He can manipulate the shape of his shadow. He can not increase its overall surface area, but with that one restriction he can do whatever he wants with it. This matters because if he touches someone else's shadow with his own shadow, he can control that person's body. Basically the controlled person mirrors his movements. If he waves his right hand, so do they.

It's weird, I know.

Hinata, as a Hyuuga possesses the Byakugan. It's, literally, her eyes. By concentrating she can make the veins around her eyes bulge out and this gains her several different skills:

-- she can see through things. Walls, trees, rock, even people.

-- her scope of vision becomes nearly 360 degrees, but for a small blind spot that begins right between her shoulder blades and expands outwards from there.

In how her family rates these things, she's middling-fair. Fairly good, but she just doesn't match up to the heavy hitters in her family and her vision doesn't have the range or strength that theirs does.
