Character Abilities Tally

Guess who gets to steal another post from Erin?

(Hint: It's me)

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Please be as thorough as possible, as this will help everyone out with plots and knowing who can fill what roles.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

**Wait for the OCD omg or I will take you up on a roof and Chuck Bass you.** OCD up and nobody is getting molested. Huzzah!

1 In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

2 For those of you who had characters around the last couple years and just want to C&P what you put in the post then, here are some shiny links for you.

In the book Helen is referred to as a "cleric and magic user".

She does have the ability to control insects, snakes, rats, etc. the limits of her ability to control other creatures isn't set out, but it's probably a pretty wide ranging ability.

Her right arm... well, that can be turned into pretty much anything - animate or inanimate. In the book she once turned it into a copy of a weird totem pole with vicious heads biting at each other till they drew blood. And of course, as the living blade - which looks like a bar of light - she can cut through the barriers to worlds and kill any demon of any size or level.

Canon says John can fly anything without training, and fly it really, really well. I say he'd never beat a Skywalker, but is impressive compared with average humans.

John is prone to getting stabbed, shot, and generally beat up. He heals amazingly quickly only to get stabbed, shot, or beat up again a week later. If you need someone for that, he's your guy.

More importantly, John's hair is semi-sentient. It also naturally looks that way, stop staring, Chuck.

And another!

Sookie is EXTREMELY good at keeping secrets. If you need someone to find something out and just sort of sit on it -- and she can 'overhear' things mentally -- she's your girl.

Also, she's been raised to be a good cook/hostess/homemaker. Now, what I mean by this is that she's the one who, when everyone's working their tails off in the library, will make some sandwiches and bring little baskets of food to everyone to make sure they're okay. And she'll bring napkins. And Cokes.

She also cleans like WHOA when she's stressed.

(Yes, I just commented twice because I forgot I'd stuck her in this category already. SHHHHH.)

Putting Helen's arm in here too as god only knows where it should fit.

Her right arm can be turned into pretty much anything - animate or inanimate. In the book she once turned it into a copy of a weird totem pole with vicious heads biting at each other till they drew blood. And of course, as the living blade - which looks like a bar of light - she can cut through the barriers to worlds and kill any demon of any size or level.

I'm also presuming her to have a fair degree of skill with weapons (blades and guns, particularly) as the 'priests' of her world were a mix of religious/scholars/ top soldiers and she was trained very thoroughly by them.

Piper is pretty good with magical research and has studied the Book of Shadows. She's also quite organized and can tend to be a bit of an OCD freak.

*shirtlesses*

Granted, this is really a "my back has glass fragments sticking out of it but I'm okay, really" icon. Oops?

Helen probably possesses some basic level competency in fighting, but nothing special.

So if you missed it up above, Helen has this arm...

Sookie has fae blood, from her paternal grandfather. This is likely the source of her telepathy, but so far in canon it's meant that she's extremely attractive to vampires (in her 'verse, fairies are like candy) and is kind of 'lucky' because she has a 'fairy godmother' looking out for her. No, not kidding.

But Sookie doesn't know that, and she hasn't met Claudine, though I imagine that in a few years when she does, she'll probably blame all the times she had random luck in not dying in Fandom or something on Claudine's interference, as well.

Adah Price knows every virus known to man and then some. Okay, not really, but her medical skills are extremely well honed and expansive. She can ever cure with one hand! She also is a mathematical genius. She can calculate almost any sum in the matter of seconds. Language is also an area where Adah is a total sue fairly brilliant: decoding in a specialty, she has a knack for backwards writing, and is easily becomes fluent in any language she bothers touching. At the moment, she's got English, French, Kilanga, Japanese, and Latin under her belt.

Thankfully, good ol' Sucky likes taking off her clothes. Be glad I'm not using the scary dirt sex icon.

Helen has some ability in research and scholarly things as she was heavily trained in those areas by the priests.

Helen also speaks a large number of languages as she was made to learn all the languages of the "Wider Times" back home - probably none or very few of which would be recognizable by anyone here - but she would be able to learn new ones very quickly.

Piper has excellent culinary skills, though she isn't formally trained.

Ronon's more than capable using all sorts of guns, explosives, knives, and swords. His personal energy pistol is his weapon of choice with its ability to be set to stun or kill. He takes advantage of that stun setting, yes he does.

Um... Peyton knows just about anything about music - indie, punk, classic, metal, etc, etc.

She also has experience as a DJ and in booking bands/running All Ages club nights.

She's also an incredible artist - if rather dark.

Daisy has been trained in all police-issued fire-arms. She's fairly good, too, as long as she can focus on what she's doing. She doesn't have that much field experience in using them, however.

Summer doesn't have any special skills or abilities, but she is smart and organized. She'd probably be able to help out with research.

Re: Miscellaneous!

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Lana's smart, good at organizing things (ran a coffee shop at the same time she was getting straight A's in school), and she's learned a small amount of martial arts. Not enough to be useful in any way at this point, but...

And, um, she's nice. And thoughtful and kind. High skill levels in all of those. ;)

Oh, and she has a taser.

Re: Fighting Abilities

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Daisy has also been training in hand-to-hand combat. Since she's relatively small and quick, she's probably more efficient in a fight than with a gun, although she lacks a little in strength. However, she is the type that, if a situation boils down to defeating evil-doers, she will likely go into a 'zone' and give it her all and surprise people.

[identity profile] satedan-soldier.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Ronon has some jaw-dropping fighting skills and incredible stamina to boot. I'd rank him pretty high among the unaided fighters. (Just look at episodes like Sateda and Broken Ties.)

Re: Support Skills

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Daisy is extremely capable with computers, having studied them and grown up with parents who were veritably obsessed with them. Putting them together, breaking them down, hacking, making awesome spreadsheets. You name it, Daisy can likely do it. She's very good at breaking down encrypted computer code, as well.
