Brian Michael Bendis, please don't sue!

Because, really? Why did I think it was a smart idea to adapt a massive crossover event to a personal exit plot?

Okay, so on May 6th and 7th, Fandom will be getting a few unwanted visitors in the forms of people we already know. Skrulls have been trying very, very hard to take over Earth over in the Marvel Universe for a long time now and last summer they damn near succeeded. In a surprisingly well written and planned company wide event, key people on the planet were replaced by Skrulls as sleeper agents. These Skrulls were granted the powers (or lack there of) of those they replaced (by SCIENCE, thanks oodles, Marvel) and were also brainwashed into thinking they really were these people.

Until they were triggered of course.

These Skrulls aren't here to harm the people, mind you. Not if they can help it. This is a mission of conversion based on the words of their religion. With the help of the human race, they can become a stronger people.

Now, the people replaced here have already been chosen just as they were in the canon. They're all in the perfect positions to take out the island's normal defensive groups by kidnapping hostages. Of course, the Skrulls neglected to learn just how well the average Fandomite takes to this sort of thing.

So, what I would love like pie would be people up for organizing their fellow students into a sort of resistance movement. Without Frenchies. Or singing of musical numbers. The first day of the island-wide part will allow for people to catch onto what's happening and react as they wish.

The second day...

That is where I will need to beg prettily for volunteers.

There will be four things I will need from the group I get here. One will be someone to find the big bad spaceship hiding in the preserve to inform the others of. Two will be a bit of a free for all fight about town to divert the attention of our invaders away from... three. Which will be a small team of people going into the spaceship to free the hostages. And, last but not least, I will ask kindly for someone to help me kill the big bad Skrull leader.

All of these things will be RNGed, of course. And I will also be asking for people willing to play NPC Skrulls for the battle and for simple interaction if they would be so very kind and awesome. If you're not up to living at the mercy of the RNG but would like to still get with the fighty/planny just make sure to note that when you tag in.

Peter would be happy to help with any fighty and/or hostage free-y stuff and/or Skrull leader killing. He's got a billion powers, stick him anywhere you need him that's what she said.

Ronan is totally up for being part of LA RESISTANCE! And has lots of skills -- and experience -- that allow him to be most versatile, so feel free to throw him wherever you want/need him in this! He's totally good for any of the necessary tasks, up to and including killing the big, bad Skrull leader.

(In fact, that may be a job for a quark-level dissociator. ;) )

I'm willing to throw one of my girls with the exception of Lacey into this, though most likely either Jen or Tahiri. That said, I am completely flexible as to which one, so whichever one you think would be more suitable for the plot, really? Um. Yeah. Unless you have no preference. :)

While I happened to think the entire invasion plot was weak and poorly executed, there is still plenty of joy to be derived from playing alien zealots who get the crap kicked out of them.

I'm in if you need me.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-04-25 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
For clarity: I mean Marvel's execution. No one should take this as a sign that I have a time machine and have judged the outcome of this plot to be weak and poorly executed.

And if anyone does take this as such a sign, I'll go back in time and kill your grandfather.

How does this affect seniors who may have been wanting to leave that week (seeing it is right after graduation and right before the newbies arrive)? If I have to send people off island for them to avoid it, that's totally easy for me, but my first thought is whether I'll miss saying bye to anyone, or if anyone can even leave once this has started/if the goodbyes would get overshadowed by a personal plot.

(And for the record, if it's island-wide and unavoidable, I would totally call that a BDE, regardless of who's running it.)

[personal profile] the_merriest 2009-04-25 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Along with what she said -- so, we're having an unofficial BDE while people are trying to leave the island? I sort of always liked the fact that the week between graduation and newbies was a bit of downtime for intro posts and exit ones. But this covers the Wednesday and Thursday before seniors have to leave, and it's unavoidable. Which means lots of people won't be leaving those days, since there's going to be a massive invasion going on, so that squeezes everyone leaving into fewer days, and it overshadows them taking off to begin with.

It kind of strikes me as a plot that is fully avoidable, though. Skrulls are shapeshifters. They're sweeping in undercover. You don't have to even notice they're there if you don't want to.

Okay, I have to admit, I am absolutely confused. Do the bad guys look like people Fandomites know? Are they Fandomites? What?

Re: OOC

[identity profile] morpherboy.livejournal.com 2009-04-25 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, still confused and therefor adding more questions:
1. Have the students who will be replaced by Skrulls always been Skrulls?
2. Will those students then be permanently gone from the game?
3. If yes to the previous two questions, how does on sign up a character that they were planning on writing out?
4. Will it be a BDE that is impossible for any character to ignore?

Re: OOC

[identity profile] morpherboy.livejournal.com 2009-04-25 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
1. Okay ... so there are already a few people who have been replaced and no one's noticed, it's just been retconned in and will be revealed later?
4. The reason I'm confused is that it this reads like the arrival of the Skrulls won't be avoidable at all and is an invasion BDE. Is it going to be like that with Skrulls on every corner, or is it a contained plot and people will be able to go about their lives without noticing the Skrulls are even there without being OOC?

Re: OOC

[personal profile] wantstodirect 2009-04-25 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'm curious, how do you define a BDE? I feel like a BDE would be anything that involves the entire island, but it seems like you're using the term differently.

That's not a complaint, btw. I like the idea that a BDE can have roots in a personal plot, or conversely, that a personal plot can become a BDE. It just looks like there's a couple of different definitions going on here and it occurs to me that "BDE" is one of the terms we should probably add to the vocab section of the wiki.

Re: OOC

[identity profile] once-a-traitor.livejournal.com 2009-04-25 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry if I look stupid saying this, I'm just trying to make sure I have it all sorted in my head. It's not a BDE, but it is an island-wide plot? So if my guy's on the island, he'll be hard pressed not to notice? I sort of think of personal plots as stuff I can ignore if need be, but BDEs/island-wide need a bit more forward thinking. Would you mind setting me straight?

Re: OOC

[identity profile] once-a-traitor.livejournal.com 2009-04-25 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry. I was a bit confused about the explanation and wasn't quite getting it. I think I understand a bit better now. Personal plot, but it's island-wide and unavoidable. I think I have it straight in my head now.
