Character Abilities Tally Version 2.0: Shorter But Size Doesn't Matter, Right?

Hey, guys!

For everybody's convenience in plotting, we try to keep a running list of the various abilities possessed by FH characters. If you ever find yourself saying, "Hey, I need a magic user/archer/person who can whistle Dixie while eating crackers and covering one eye," that list of powers is meant to be there for you to take a look at.

It's been a while since we did this, but we've made some changes we hope you'll like, in the interim:

  • All of the previous posts have been compiled into a spreadsheet that you can always head over to check (it'll be linked on the FH community info page)

  • From now on, we only need people to fill this out for new characters, or if you have an update or correction for your older ones. If your stuff is listed over on the spreadsheet, don't worry about this!

  • We've streamlined the categories a bit to focus on "what can you do" instead of worrying about whether that's a magic or mutant or inherent ability. So the wacky powers are now just broken into spellcasting, psionic powers, and superhuman physical attributes. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] puppy_fair for that suggestion.)

Anything that is a canon power or ability of your character (including those developed at FH) and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. This is for all character types - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything, not just the wacky powers. We also appreciate yer fighting, research, weapons, support skills and Dixie whistling, baby.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

[Wait for the OCD or every radio broadcast from now until December will contain a hidden rick-roll. OCD up! Have at it!]

Gibbs is an expert marksmen with a rifle and handgun. He used to be a damn good sniper though his eyesight has dropped a level or two since his younger days.

Still doesn't stop him from taking out a caf-pow addicted terrorist from over a mile away though.

Lindsay is a damn good shoot with a revolver. Like all damn good TV Cops.

Worf is an expert shot in most 24th century weaponry (Phasers, etc.)

He's also an expert in Klingon weapons (bat'tleth and the like)

However this century weapons would probably throw him for a loop.

Mat is pretty darn skilled for a guy without superhuman powers. He's kicked the tails of two Warder-trained princes with swords with a quarterstaff when he was just out of a sickbed. His weapon of choice is the ashandarei (think quarterstaff with a short sword stuck on top), but he's also really good with a bow and arrow and a slingshot.

He also tends to always have a knife or six stuck somewhere on his person. People keep trying to kill him.

Rose can handle most weapons, but she's definitely not specialised in any.

Beka's most skilled with a baton. Other than that, she can handle knives just fine and she knows how to use a crossbow.

Kyle is the weapon Marty Stu of the SW EU. He's extremely proficient with all sorts of guns, grenades, mines, stun batons, and so forth. He's also one of the greatest lightsaber duelists of his era, having come up with several styles of his own and defeating a number of Dark Jedi despite having very little training.

Mirax does have a blaster in the weapons locker and is a decent shot, but she really only has it for self-defense.

Azula is more of a hand-to-hand/Firebender fighter but should she be forced to fight with a weapon this are her skills: Hidden weapons. She can conceal throwing knives and stilletos on her person and throw/use them with deadly accuracy. In fact even her hair pin can be used as a weapon.

Since Azula is what amounts to a Kung-fu Master we can also extrapolate that she also knows how to use various Kung-fu weapons: dagger, staff, spear and Jian (straight sword). She doesn't use these weapons often but since weapons use is also related to Kung-fu moves it could only mean instead of being an expert Azula is above average but once she starts practicing with a certain weapon it would take no time flat for her to become an expert and currently she is training her sword skills.

Both Tully and Billy are proficient with handguns. Billy also is good with a sword and with throwing stars.

Guns and explosives. Mostly guns. He's a good shot. Explosives need work. He's learning knife fighting from George.

Excellent swordsman. Can fight on horseback too. Good with a staff. Decent archer, but better with a crossbow.

Modern guns (pistols and rifles), explosive devices, beginner but getting better with a sword, above average with knife fighting, good shot with a crossbow, average with a bow and arrow.

Ronan is adept (but not expert) with a sword, and has some experience with a spear.

Eric is slowly becoming better with a sword, although he's not yet at a point where I'd trust him in armed combat.

Kennedy is trained in all the basic Slayer arsenal of weaponry: stakes, swords, knives, though she's not exemplary by any means with any of them and doesn't have any experience with using them outside of controlled sparring, and that almost exclusively with her Watcher before she came to Fandom. Poleaxes and such, she knows the basics of how to use them (i.e. this is how you hold it, the pointy end goes here) but no actual skill.

She has good aim with a crossbow and knows how to load it fairly efficiently, but again, no practical field experience as of yet.

Leto can fight very well with knives and staffs, having increased speed through prana-bindu training. He also has access to the genetic memory of his ancestors, which means he would know how to use most weapons, although it would take a while for his body to catch up with this knowledge.

Sirius has a wand!

Max is an expert with most forms of Roman-style weapons. Swords, shields, spears, javelins, that sort of thing. He also has a natural affinity for metal bladed weapons, so he picks those up very quickly.

Sirius has a wand! Again, he's fully trained in wizard dueling and in not getting killed via evil wizards.

Triela is an expert with just about every modern military small-arm. Pistols, SMGs, rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles, and even light anti-tank weapons. Her expertise with all of these is very high, if not quite as high as someone who is a true expert in the field. She's also trained inn demolitions so she knows how to use explosives, but she's not an expert at that.
