Character Abilities Tally Version 2.0: Shorter But Size Doesn't Matter, Right?

Hey, guys!

For everybody's convenience in plotting, we try to keep a running list of the various abilities possessed by FH characters. If you ever find yourself saying, "Hey, I need a magic user/archer/person who can whistle Dixie while eating crackers and covering one eye," that list of powers is meant to be there for you to take a look at.

It's been a while since we did this, but we've made some changes we hope you'll like, in the interim:

  • All of the previous posts have been compiled into a spreadsheet that you can always head over to check (it'll be linked on the FH community info page)

  • From now on, we only need people to fill this out for new characters, or if you have an update or correction for your older ones. If your stuff is listed over on the spreadsheet, don't worry about this!

  • We've streamlined the categories a bit to focus on "what can you do" instead of worrying about whether that's a magic or mutant or inherent ability. So the wacky powers are now just broken into spellcasting, psionic powers, and superhuman physical attributes. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] puppy_fair for that suggestion.)

Anything that is a canon power or ability of your character (including those developed at FH) and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. This is for all character types - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything, not just the wacky powers. We also appreciate yer fighting, research, weapons, support skills and Dixie whistling, baby.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

[Wait for the OCD or every radio broadcast from now until December will contain a hidden rick-roll. OCD up! Have at it!]

Gibbs is well-verse in hand-to-hand combat and keeps in regular practice even though he is older than dirt compared to most people on the island.

He can also smack the back of anyone's head when they need sense smacked into them.

Lindsay is a very good hand to hand combat, and can hold her own in most fights.

Mat will cheat like a cheating thing if he has to, and tends to dislike killing women, but he (unlike most of the rest of the guys in his universe) won't hesitate to do it.

Around here, he's probably upper-middling in fighting ability.

Worf is an expert in a Klingon Martial art form known as Mok'bara.

Rose has been trained to fight since childhood, and she's pretty damn good at it. She's best at hand-to-hand, but if she has access to a weapon, she can pick it up and use it well enough.

She's in the midst of a pretty major spike in her abilities (thank you, Dimitri) so by spring, she'll be pretty comfortably at the elite level, but right now, she can hold her own but gets beat regularly in the advanced group in Fight Club.

Beka's been trained to fight in combat and has plenty of experience. She's best with a baton, but can manage other weapons too. She tends to fight dirty, trained to end fights quick and she's used to being outnumbered.

Azula is an expert in hand-to-hand combat. She has the skills, agility of a Shaolin Kung-fu master. More importantly, she's been trained to fight in a war.

Azula has little or no qualms using any tactic that could end with her winning favorably. She's been shown to fight with the Avatar (the strongest and most powerful bender/Martial Artist in her world) to a standstill. Her skill in hand-to-hand is second-to-none, able to fight armed opponents and still come out on top without even breaking a sweat or using her Firebending.

She's been called a prodigy and I think its safe to assume its not only limited to Firebending since picks up other skills faster than normal. If she finds herself lacking in one area she will go out of her way to learn or better her skill. Some people might call her a Mary Sue. If, y'know, Mary Sue was ever an evil overlord determined to conquer the world. And almost did.

Kyle has received training from the Imperial Academy, the Rebel Alliance, Luke Skywalker's Jedi Praxeum, years of being a mercenary, and countless rowdy bars. He has a technical understanding of how to mess someone up and compliments it by being a cheating bastard who will totally cheapshot you if he sees an opening.

Reese has the regular cop hand-to-hand training, some knowledge of Krav Maga and she'll not hesitate, despite her size to tackle anyone five times bigger than her.

Reese is short and knows its a disadvantage and she compensates by being a brawler and being pretty damned determined. She won't last against a lot of the skilled fighters but she'll inflict as much damage as she can before finally succumbing.

Above average at hand-to-hand, meaning he can hold his own in a fight with a trained human soldier.

Ronan has experience fighting hand-to-hand, with sword, with spear, and with wizardry. He's best with a sword or in magical combat, but he's at least intermediate at hand-to-hand.

While her actual hand-to-hand skills are limited, Lulu is incredibly fast and agile; while she can't take a lot of hits, it's not so much an issue because it's almost impossible to hit her in the first place.

Ten years of martial arts mishmash training for Kennedy. As above this is almost exclusively in controlled sparring with her Watcher and her grasp of the practicals isn't as strong as it could be, i.e. she'll do fine against beginners in fight club, but isn't as good at reading/countering more skilled fighters.

She'll always take a lot of hits, though, because that's just the way fighting in the Buffyverse seems to roll.

Max is an expert at brawling-style combat. He knows how to fight large groups in chaotic environments. He's also very good at one-on-one combat with a background mostly in wrestling (so he tends to go for throws and locks). He's not so good at fighting in groups in more controlled environments, though. He's used to relying on the chaos of a fight as one of his advantages.

Triela's been training in hand-to-hand techniques at Fandom, so she's sort of getting good at it, but she's definitely not an expert.

Jaime is a total novice when it comes to hand-to-hand fighting. He has some training, but not a whole lot. Most of what he knows is pieced together from experience, so it only works sometimes.
