Character Abilities Tally Version 2.0: Shorter But Size Doesn't Matter, Right?

Hey, guys!

For everybody's convenience in plotting, we try to keep a running list of the various abilities possessed by FH characters. If you ever find yourself saying, "Hey, I need a magic user/archer/person who can whistle Dixie while eating crackers and covering one eye," that list of powers is meant to be there for you to take a look at.

It's been a while since we did this, but we've made some changes we hope you'll like, in the interim:

  • All of the previous posts have been compiled into a spreadsheet that you can always head over to check (it'll be linked on the FH community info page)

  • From now on, we only need people to fill this out for new characters, or if you have an update or correction for your older ones. If your stuff is listed over on the spreadsheet, don't worry about this!

  • We've streamlined the categories a bit to focus on "what can you do" instead of worrying about whether that's a magic or mutant or inherent ability. So the wacky powers are now just broken into spellcasting, psionic powers, and superhuman physical attributes. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] puppy_fair for that suggestion.)

Anything that is a canon power or ability of your character (including those developed at FH) and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. This is for all character types - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything, not just the wacky powers. We also appreciate yer fighting, research, weapons, support skills and Dixie whistling, baby.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

[Wait for the OCD or every radio broadcast from now until December will contain a hidden rick-roll. OCD up! Have at it!]

Booth refers to Sweets as a "portable lie detector". He is excellent at reading body language and knowing if someone is lying.

What, I wanna be involved.

Chuck is a grade A computer nerd!

... Yeah, that's about it, much as he wishes otherwise. He's very bright and will come in handy for research and anything that requires some genius-type math and computational skill.

Mat is ta'veren, which means that he can warp chance just by being somewhere. He's a walking plot device, also has two thousand years of military expertise (though it's all in the "push the pikes, charge horses" vein), and fluently speaks the Old Tongue. Not that I see that coming in handy, but.

Beka's a good investigator. She's got plenty experience, knows how to gather intel and solve the mystery.

You forgot the part where she's a terrier, yo.

She's a terrier and once she sinks her teeth in a case, she won't ever let it go!

There, happy?

Azula is a 'people person' apparently this means she can 'read' people in a Hannibal Lecter way (but not eat people, I think) and if she wants to she can assess/figure out a person's life history just by looking into their eyes. She can tell when people are lying to her.

She's also a master manipulator and able to manipulate anyone to suit her needs, she can also talk a whole army into defecting to her side in a scary yet inspirational way.

Azula is a Chess Master. She can plan and put to effect a Xanatos Gambit that could lead to the fall of an Empire should, y'know, anyone need that skill. But in lieu of that, she's a master strategist and at the age of 14 her father is seen taking her advice in matters of war. All of her strategies have led to effective campaigns.

I can't imagine in any way how smuggling skills would be useful in Fandom, but if anyone needed something they're not supposed to have, Mirax knows enough to be able to figure out how to get it.

Also she's really the most likely to say, steal a speeder if needed.

Reese is a good researcher and an even more excellent interrogator second to only one within the LAPD. She can also figure out patterns easily, she's also pretty damned observant.

George speaks... uh, six languages. English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, and Croatian. He also has command of a few phrases in Russian, but it's very, very limited.

Thanks to the Speech, Ronan can understand any language (including non-verbal languages), and can be understood by anything. Most non-Speech speakers will hear the Speech as their native tongue (or as what language they expect to hear, so long as they understand it -- if their native language is Spanish but they expect Ronan to speak English, they'll hear English), but people with strong observational skills, a talent for languages, or a degree of magical ability will likely be able to pick up that it's something else.

Also, as mentioned above in the spellcasting thread, Ronan is a magical healer, has an above-average understanding of anatomy, and a slightly-more-than-rudimentary grasp of basic medicine thanks to his work in the clinic.

Addison is: a double-board-certified neo-natal surgeon (with specialties in maternal/fetal medicine and OB/GYN), and has a fellowship in medical genetics. What this means (other than that she's Dr. Mary Sue) is that she can do general surgery, likely muddle her way through things like heart surgery, and help anyone with any particular... lady problems.

(I'm a guy. Shut up.)

And Addison is also available for pre- and neo-natal care, for any Fandomites who wish to have an on-island physician for that purpose.

Diana can call anyone anywhere on any phone. Like, she instantly knows everyone's phone numbers and can call a person at a pay phone they happen to be standing next to.

Leto has access to the memories of his ancestors. Than means he knows a lot, and also that he can speak a lot of ancient languages.

And on top of all that, Max is actually a ridiculously powerful healer. He doesn't have a very subtle or delicate technique, so complex healing is beyond him, but he has a ton of raw power that allows him to deal with straightforward but massive wounds like multiple stabbings or broken major bones.
