AU WEEKEND! AGAIN!

Yep. I'm posting this early and I'm pretty much copying and pasting from the last time this was done.

Why? Because on March 6-7th IT'S TIME TO GET ALTERNATIVE!

And no I don't mean that all the characters in FH will all start listening to indie rock and make snarky comments about any artist that becomes mainstream. You've obviously confused this post with Questionable Content.

Anywho: For that weekend only, your character will be transformed into a different version of him or herself as a result of Fandom Weirdness.

Alt-U characters can be any of the following:
An alternate universe version of your own character that occurred in the character's fandom
(Ex. Buffy-> Wishverse!Buffy)
A different role that the actor who portrays your character/PB has taken
(Ex. Aravis -> Vesper Lynd)
An alternate character that is based on your character or your character is based on.
(Ex. Hamlet -> Simba from the lion king)
An actor who has portrayed the character before or after your current actor
(Ex. Hamlet -> Mel Gibson!Hamlet)

The other suggestion I have for those characters who do not have an alternate universe to draw from is to do a play on their names.

Example:
John Sheppard -> Shepherd Book.
Chuck Bass -> Chuck Bartowski
Chuck Bartowski -> Chuck Bass

If none of the above does not work for you, you also have the option to think your characters are either from the wrong universe or the godawful Mary Sue steroptypes of themselves that show up in fanfic.

Need an example: Hermione Sue

'Nuff Said, OMG.

If you are really struggling to find a character to turn into? Ping me and I'll try to help you out.

Yes. Your character will physically transform into the Alternate Universe Persona that you chose.

Yes. Your character will remember what happened afterward.

Yes. Gunn is a sexy beast. (Just seeing if you're reading closely.)

No. You don't have to change your character if you don't want to do so. You might have more fun going "WTF?" over the changes in everyone.

And yes, this plot will be available for alumni and expatriates.

Sign-ups will be going in another post and will be due February 28th.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?

ETA: The illustrious admins have informed me that anyone who wishes to bring over their FH-Wishverse selves can do so, provided the follow the same rules for any evil characters as everybody else (Ask first before hurting people, don't burn down the town, floss after every meal etc.

Quick question! I have enough detail (thanks to interviews/pictures/trailers etc.) to extrapolate characterisation an AU counterpart for Effy, but the movie isn't actually OUT until next month.

Is there a guideline on how much canon you're supposed to know/have for these things?

(I know people in previous years have ended up turning into characters who didn't even have names given, so...)

*uses appropriate AU character icon, whee*

I don't know if this helps, but I was able to use P&P&Zombies Lizzy last year, even though the book wasn't out until April. (I was wrong about a lot of the characterization, but that's mainly because the P&P&Zombies book changes Lizzy more than I would have guessed [/nerd])

Helpful! Thank you. (And I KEEP saying I'm going to read that for the lulz).

Just listening to what the actress has to say about the character and her motivations, plus the world/background descriptions is probably enough in this case. There's a surprising amount there.

And adding to what Relly said, I had Valentine turn into a canon Au version of himself who was really only onscreen for two minutes, tops, one year. Had to pull a name out of my butt and all, but the fact that it was canon was apparently enough.

I do have a name! Which is a start.

Actually watched Kidulthood tonight, just to see if I think I could grasp writing the London-gangsta-slang for a weekend. That's the part that could be interesting.
