Heeeeey Gaimanites
The next long (Portalocity-screwup-caused) leg of the new-grad backpacking tour is going to be London Below, hosted by the formerly-FH-student version of Door (
notajar). It's set to run June 4th through through the 10th, though the length may get shortened a bit at the end, depending on how much there really is to do there for the kids.
As such, NPCs would be most welcome, from anybody who's familiar with Neverwhere, either book or mini-series.
When is this set?
In the FH version, instead of falling out of a wall in front of Richard Mayhew, Door fell out of one of the sixth floor dorm rooms during a Bridge-and-friends expedition. She spent a year hiding out in Fandom with occasional updates from de Carabas on what was happening in London Below (not much, without Door around to push the canon plot forward). Then she went home because she got irrefutable evidence that her sister was still alive, and even though it was clearly a trap, it was a trap whose bait she couldn't not go after.
That was in 2007, and I've got no desire at all to extrapolate wild AU adventures since then, so off in handwavy she-was-supposed-to-be-an-expat-but-I-never-wrote-anything-for-her land, canon continued almost exactly as normal; Door ended up on the run again due to the attempt to find her sister, she met Richard, insert a pretty but dimly lit mini-series or a novel with better production values here.
So they're now 3-ish years post-canon. Hunter, Anesthesia, Messrs. Croup & Vandemar, the Beast of Night's Bridge and the Angel Islington are ex-parrots and Sir Richard Mayhew is hanging about helping keep the peace , but London Below is still London Below, so it's still generally dangerous, though perhaps a bit less politically unstable. Let us for the sake of time passing, a happy ending, and somebody else to take visitors around and open doors for them, say that Door and Richard did indeed manage to find and save Ingress. Finis.
Who do we need?
De Carabas and Richard are top of the list; any of the other characters are substitutable with somebody else who'd make a good thread-host or tour guide. The backpackers, once someone gets them to Door, will be staying in the House With No Doors, so Ingress, aside from just being a coda to the FH story, is useful to deal with handwaving people moving from room to room, since it takes an Opener to do that. Thus she could be a complete NPC without even being played, if necessary.
What Else?
This is in theory a mostly-laid-back, if unexpected, stay (because I've also got a kid on the trip, so running a real plot of any sort at the same time is beyond my sanity levels) but if anyone has ideas for running a mini-adventure with NPC's, or just wants to propose hosting a setting to explore, bring it on!
ETA: And the journal they'll be played out of (Richard and the Marquis aside) will be
undersiders.

Who do we need?
- The Marquis de Carabas (dibs go to
nofatjokes if so desired, since he was Door's Marquis)
- Sir Richard Mayhew
- Ingress (Door's younger sister who is, yes, essentially an OC; assume she's about 14 and has been through hell but that was three years ago so she's as okay as you can get after that sort of thing -- other than that, characterization is all up to the player)
- Lamia/random Velvets for anyone who'd like a bit of danger in their explorations
- Hammersmith and/or random OC types who'd be running stalls at the Floating market
- Old Bailey
- The Earl of Earl's Court/his jester Tooley
- Anybody else you've an eye to play besides the deadies.

I has a yen to NPC!
Probably the "Hosting a setting for exploration" types (Old Bailey, the Earl, etc.) would each only appear on one day, which we'd figure out depending on people's availability. Floating Market will be a couple of times at least, to highlight the location changes.

I has a question!
I has an OOC Thread!
Also, ask and I shall icon it, and I'll get back to you on what actual journal will be used for NPC-ing.
