who wants another crack weekeeeeend?
Once again, I'm bringing you news of an utter crack weekend. But this time I can also blame
zetabetabrat and
unburnt_queen. So say hello to...
REALITY SHOW WEEKEND!!
No, it doesn't deserve glitter text yet. We'll see how this goes before it gets that. Happy, Michelle?
On Saturday, January 14, the denizens of Fandom (including students, teachers, townies and on-island alumni) will wake up thinking they are stars of reality shows. As you do. Maybe you're The Situation. Maybe you're a Bridezilla. Maybe you're a Real Housewife of Fandom. For an entire weekend, the people of Fandom will be participants of a reality show (or rather, several reality shows), thinking this is entirely normal. Which of course, IT'S REALLY REALLY NOT.
People can either be their own character (e.g., Miley could still be Miley but auditioning for American Idol) or be a person from an actual show (the Situation, Puck from the Real World, Jeff Probst, etc). So for the sake of explaining it in a way that doesn't make my headache worse, let's do this:
Does my character have to be an actual character on a show, or can they be themselves, just on a reality show?
Either one. It's totally up to you. Miley can still be herself but can believe she's auditioning for American Idol, or she can be Sanjaya with her bad self. I could make Jaina turn into Lauren Conrad, or she can be a new character on The... Hills? Idk, I never watched that show. But everyone affected by the weekend will think this is totally normal, either way.
I want to be Snooki, but someone else said they're going to be Snooki first!
First, I will not judge you and your Snooki-wanting. Okay, that's a lie, I'm judging a little. But there are no signups. If multiple people want to be Snooki, then there will just be multiple Snooki's/Snookies/Snooki and god help us all.
I want to be a Real Housewife/a Top Chef/on The Amazing Race, but it's an ensemble thing and that takes coordination.
That's why there's OCD below, so you can brainstorm. If you have an idea, go ahead and comment and try to work something out with other people.
Will there be talking heads?
Hell yes there will be talking heads. GO DO INTERVIEWS.
What about dramatic pop music underscoring my feelings?
What am I, your mom? I'm not gonna tell you no.
I have too many ideas! What if I want my character to be the Bachelor AND an American Idol judge?
Do 'em both! Who says you can't think you're Pauly D, who just happens to be the Bachelor and an American Idol judge? Crossover events are totally allowed, just please be RP-courteous about it.
Can the island itself change to accommodate us, too, i.e., the beach becomes the Survivor Island?
Yep! I mean, we have to have a Survivor Island.
What if I don't know any reality shows?
Here's a list to start you off. And I guarantee there are other people in game who can help you out.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of structure here...
That is not a question. Like Soap Opera Weekend, there's a loose structure with guidelines so that you all can let the crack flow. I sorta trust you guys to have fun with this sort of thing.
On Monday, everyone will wake up as themselves, with everything back to normal. As always with this sort of thing, keep the lines of communication open, don't mod anyone unless you've cleared it, and just have fun. There's OCD below so you can brainstorm till your heart's content, so have at it!
