Upcoming Event: Fandom Pride!

Yes, it is time! Fandom Island is a place with a vastly varied sort of population, (and a vastly varied sort of player base!) and it's about time we celebrate some of that! On the weekend of July 8th-9th Fandom will be celebrating it's first (possibly annual!) Pride weekend! Yes, the whole weekend will be set aside for events meant to celebrate love and identity, and anybody is welcome to join!

Anybody. We won't be putting up with any Trans/Bi/Ace/Aro exclusion garbage here, though given that everyone in this game is basically the most awesome, I'm not predicting that becoming an issue. Y'all are valid, my dudes, ladies, and gentle-enbies. If anyone wants to say otherwise, they're welcome to meet me out behind the shed, where I'll viciously chew off their kneecaps.

The festivities will kick off on Saturday, July 8th, with a Parade! Anybody on the island is welcome to ready their best rainbows and participate, or simply come out to enjoy solidarity and acceptance and unity and defiance. All that good stuff! There will be minor OCD in the comments for this one, mostly to get a feel for numbers, though registration in advance isn't necessary if on Saturday morning you wake up with the urge to throw everyone and their puppies at the parade anyway. Bonus points for puppies. Puppies make everything better.

They'll continue on Sunday, July 9th, with a picnic in the park! There will, of course, be the requisite food and mingling for the picnic, as well as any activities that people might want to suggest or organize. I'm basically demanding a bouncy castle, here. Halifax has conditioned me to think that no Pride is complete without a bouncy castle. There will be OCD for this stuff, too, naturally!

On top of all of THAT, we're opening the floor for anybody else who might want to contribute an event of any sort to come forward and do just that! Does your character want to run a pancake breakfast, some manner of sporting event, a LGBT+ film festival, drag show, or what-have-you? We'd love to have it! This stuff will be up to individual players to post over the weekend, and the OCD thread for this can be used both for coordinating and making sure nobody doubles up on any awesome ideas you might have! If you're planning on doing something like this, please lay claim to it in the OCD before going ahead and posting that weekend, thanks!

Whether it's just a suggestion for something to include in the ocd (maybe this picnic DESPERATELY needs a ball pit), or something you'd like to contribute yourself (you want to cook? Pride seems like a good time for flowers. Maybe a booth at the picnic, maybe wandering around the sidelines of the parade handing them out? Would Peter's employees - or anyone who wants to volunteer/be drafted as such - be interested?
