fhplotterywheel | Curing the Vamp

I figured it'd be a good idea to pull together all the possible cure suggestions so we can brainstorm them into a coherent whole.

Here's what we've got so far:

1) Part of the cure will involve something the UK gang has to get from Knockturn and/or Diagon Alley (so Angel is not going to be completely better until the UK gang gets home later this week)

2) Bel will suggest the demon alchemist route but for whatever reason won't be able to get his hands on a demon alchemist. Al will somehow step in to do what he can.

3) Lana has access to a healing serum that Lex Luthor made out of Clark Kent's blood

4) Steal underpants

5) ???

6) Profit!

My brainstormy thoughts:

Both teams are going to find out that Slayer's blood cures Angel but that they have no access to such blood. So at that point I think the Fandom and UK teams would need to start brainstorming how they can MacGyver up something that they'll hope will be close enough for government work. Mix in #1-3 and maybe toss in a Halliwell spell over it to cover the bases maybe? Also, how will the teams know to bring all their pieces together?

I dunno.

Oh there ya go! Why don't we go with that then instead of the serum? That way we're getting more interaction out of it than you basically playing by yourself as you write home to Lex.

Also, made a looong list in the last UK thread of all the possible Harry Potter stuff-- one of the things was a blood-strengthening potion; maybe technology can do stuff too?

Also, I don't know if Nat's mentioned this, but FK canon has vamps being effected by curare and strychnine to help stop and start the heart. She may want to have to do some nasty things to Angel to keep him hanging in there.

Don't FK vamps actually have a heartbeat, though? Albeit a slow one. BtVS vamps don't; it's always stopped , except for the occasional momentary thump if they get a heavy shot of electricity.

Once every ten minutes or so, right?

That's right, I rmemeber that. Still. Some of it could still work, or it's a thing for Nat to try in the hopes of having it work.

I, ah, might have vast quantities of the series memorized still. Especially first season.

And yes, I think that'd be a good thing for Nat to try. Fun!

That's an idea. It's later in canon than I'm playing her, but we can *handwavey* that she's overheard Lex and others saying she's a Chosen One, but didn't really know what they meant. And when the others start talking about needing "Chosen Ones" she can volunteer the information she's overheard.

(I haven't actually *seen* much of season 4 yet, so I didn't even think of it till you started talking Chosen Ones. ;) *rolls eyes*)

Why do I suddenly think a 'Chosen Ones' club is needed next semester?

We should all go into the library and put it on our library applications - just to make Janet crazy.

Here's a thought: If we want a way to include more people what if we also apply a very broad definition of "Slayer"? That way anyone who's fought a vamp, a zombie, or a snow monster could also donate if they wanted to.

Obviously they don't count as Slayers as much as an actual vampire Slayer does, but that'd be the point of including the alchemy, the UK MacGuffin, and the spell.

It'd be really interesting if Walter was asked. Because y'know...vampire hunter being asked to help save a vampire's life. A little ironic there...

Bridge-mun won't be around until the evening, but canonically his psychic abilities come from his parents' exposure to cellular enhancers, so he's probably got funky "special" blood.

If we go with such a broad definition of "Slayer" then we start to get into "why didn't they do that in Season 3 Buffy?" I know - magic, McGuffin, etc, but it still feels too easy.

I personally like the idea of using "Chosen Ones" from other canon, or possibly synthesizing Slayer blood in some way. I think we should need a sample of actual Slayer blood for that, but we can get that from Andrew/the Council.

Although if Slayer blood is synthesized from regular blood, then we could gather blood from people who have slain vampires in order to give it a little more of a boost. So we could work in the broad sense of "slayer" that way.

Well 'cause Faith was around and then Buffy offered herself to Angel without telling anybody. And because they had proper Slayers and because magic in Jossverse always works at the speed of the plot.

I'll grant that it's fairly broad but to me the flip side is that if we can get any proper Slayer blood then why aren't we getting more? Why not take a drop of Slayer blood and magic up more of it? Answer: because then we can't RP out anything else. It puts all the fun in the hands of those talking to Andrew, and those who could have the ability to make more Slayer blood.

If we didn't have volunteers I'd say let's go for it, but I'm reluctant to back something that shuts out people who could otherwise contribute.

Replying again to clarify:

I do get that anyone who's slayed a vamp or whatever might be too broad for our purposes, and that sticking to those with a "Chosen One" label might be a little more plausible. I'm just saying that if our gangs could get ahold of proper Slayer blood to me that starts raising a host of questions and problems that we'd need to solve in order to let everybody contribute. And the easiest way to deal with those questions and problems is to say that they can't get ahold of proper Slayer blood.

Xander could e-mail 'his' Buffy (he's already e-mailing his Willow, who'll help get them to Knockturn Alley), who'd happily donate blood, but I think I'm gonna save the hassle of coming up with a reason why that wouldn't work, by just having him think they couldn't get it in time.
