General Request for Plotting and Organization!

omg, guys. It's your favorite time of the new semester. That's right, it's CHARACTER ABILITY TALLY DAY, YAY!!

Okay, you could at least fake the excitement. God.

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon1 power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Please be as thorough as possible, as this will help everyone out with plots and knowing who can fill what roles.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

(And naturally, there will be threads, so please wait for the rather long OCD or I will have to kill something Threads are up!)

1 In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

2 For those of you who had characters around last year and just want to C&P what you put in the post then, here are some shiny links. Why, yes, I did just C&P everything over. Again. I'm very lazy efficient that way omg.

Hermione is really very used to being the sidekick. She'll head into trouble, but never gets to fight the actual bad guy. Therefore, support. She's competing for Research Queen, especially when it comes to magical stuff.

Aziraphale has an extensive library, including books on the occult. He can lend a hand in the medical arena by healing if necessary.

Nate has the power of a Law Degree, a lot of experience in the 'taking over a country and organizing it' area, and a very large (and plotty) brain with a lot of info in. If that goes here, anyway.

Beauty reads and speaks several languages, and is bookish enough to be good at research. Also, she's not afraid to try new things.

She rides very well, and owns an exceptionally large horse.

Her canon also apparently feels it's important to mention that she's good at chopping wood.

Adah would certainly be an exceptional researcher; she is also fluent in English, French, Latin, Kilanga (one of many languages of the Congolese), and will have Japanese down soon.

Also, she is studying to be a doctor one day, so she could be medically helpful, but her training and skills at this point are very rudimentary.

Fraser can tell Inuit stories!

Seriously, Fraser's very, very literal but very smart and has a wealth of knowledge in his head. He can pull random facts out about almost anything and, if he doesn't know it, he'll go find out.

Sam knows Latin. Sam loves Latin. He probably has at least a passing knowledge of other ancient or dead languages as well, in addition to Hebrew.

He also has mid-level First Aid skills.

Mac is just full of computey skillz and is super smart in general. Great for researching purposes.

Rikku is in essence a sidekick character. She's got a lot of experience fighting at this point. She's fast, accurate, and evasive: not the party's tank, but closer to the rogue/thief archetype.

Rikku will be learning a White magic spell called "Esuna" at some point - this is mostly an antidote for specific ailments in the Final Fantasy universe. (If you've been hit with Darkness, or Poison, or so on.)

Her leg-pouch has healing potions in it.

Rikku speaks a language called Al Bhed that Lulu also speaks and Alec is learning; anybody with the speak/understand all languages ability can converse with her in it.

Doogie is a completely certified yes-that's-a-real-M.D. doctor, and is totally willing to patch people up if they need it done quietly.

Aly organised and trained an intelligence service then used it to bring down a greatly feared and experienced spymaster and the monarchy in less than a year. ...I'm not sure what else I can say to add to that. Oh yeah, she was 16 at the time.

She's since acted as spymaster for the Copper Isles for six years. She's canonically very good at languages and codes and speaks several languages of her world plus Crow.

She also has tiny Immortal friends called darkings which are blots of blackness, quite intelligent and are able to listen and report to the darking she wears as a necklace (named Trick). In canon, Aly uses them as spies and communication devices. For FH, I try not to use them much, but they're certainly available and useful for a plot device if there's a way to make it logical.

Katara can heal using waterbending. She's been using it steadily since she got to FH and has slowly become more able to affect and heal more serious wounds.

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter's ruled a country for four years, getting it back on its feet after a century of misrule so he's good at organising, diplomacy, talking people into or out of things and generally making sure everything runs smoothly. He took both First Aid courses this summer. He has some Latin and French, knows quite a bit of English and classical history, but absolutely no math or science.

Peter's a trained tactician and strategist. He leads his army from the front as it were.

He's High King of Narnia so I suppose per the already established FH canon stated by [info]susanofnarnia: "Pretty much this means that for purposes of plot, she can see/sense Narnian magic, and might be a little more sensitive to the other types." (Only insert he instead of she)

He took Anakin's flight workshop and enjoyed it greatly, learning to fly as much as one can in 8 weeks. He'd take just about any opportunity to learn more or to fly something.

Evie knows a number of ancient languages-- Latin, Greek, and Coptic Egyptian-- and she's working on Egyptian and Mayan hieroglyphics. She speaks, reads, and writes Arabic and French fluently, as well as English, having been raised in English-ruling Cairo of the early 1900's.

She has archaeological field research experience, more than many grad students in the field, and the ability to focus *insanely* when left alone with books.

Aiden used to be a forensic scientist. She has exceptional observational and scientific skills and can research with the best of them.

She'll also happily supply PI gadgets to anyone that might need them.

Anne is an avid reader with an excellent academic mind -- if you can get her to focus on the situation instead of daydreaming.

She canonically studies Latin and Greek, and while she's no classics scholar at the age of fifteen she's got a pretty good academic, if not practical, knowledge of both.

Karal's highly intelligent and has extremely good research and problem solving skills. He's also been trained to have what's effectively a photographic memory - conversations and text he can remember word for word - is trained in diplomacy, and he can pick up languages very quickly.

He knows he's pretty much useless in a fight, and he has no problem with that, preferring to use the skills he does have to help in whatever way he can. He doesn't see himself as a sidekick, though.

Sokka's pretty skilled in coming up with plans, figuring out how things work, and general research stuff. Not too bright, but very, very clever.

Re: Support Skills

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker speaks seven modern languages fluently, has reasonable which-way-to-the-Coliseum skills in about three others, and has done the research thing many many times. She's also personally familiar with many major cities in Europe and Asia.

She's taken several First Aid classes and survive-the-wilderness classes, used her skills in the field, and is a frighteningly fast driver.

Lastly, she's pushy and manipulative to an extreme, and has (at the request of other character's players) gotten things moving when it would be OOC for a character to take a particular action for themselves.

Squall doesn't do "sidekick".

He DOES have spells and items that can magically heal wounds, but (as explained above) he'll be stingy with them.

Re: Support Skills

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter has a brilliant mind and is very knowledgeable of math and science (specifically chemistry but with a strong interest in biology for selfish reasons).

He often neglects this, though, because he's good at punching people.

He has some basic first aid training thanks to a First Aid workshop, but I fear for anyone who relied on Peter's abilities with that.

Mary is a planner and organizer. She's planned conventions, weddings, surfing competitions, and just about everything else Las Vegas threw at her.

She's also has some experience with investigation and research. Mostly, she played arm candy when someone from security needed a partner to help them blend in, but Mary has found leads on her own. She also did her own investigation on one occasion when security was too busy to help her.

Naomi is quite smart and she has always been interested in learning. She's good with researching and if someone needed her to find something she could most likely do it without any problems.
