General Request for Plotting and Organization!

omg, guys. It's your favorite time of the new semester. That's right, it's CHARACTER ABILITY TALLY DAY, YAY!!

Okay, you could at least fake the excitement. God.

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon¹ power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Please be as thorough as possible, as this will help everyone out with plots and knowing who can fill what roles.

(And naturally, there will be threads, so please wait for the rather long OCD or I will have to kill something Threads are up!)

¹ In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

Hermione is a witch, who while she should only be in her sixth year of schooling is still way advanced. Ask her just about anything magical in the HP-verse and she's probably read about it. I'm so not listing off all the spells she can do, but HP canon seems to have a spell for just about everything (within reason). Also, she kinda rocks the potions and seems to have a real thing for Polyjuice Potion to make someone look like someone else, thank you new canon. She also needs her wand to do anything at the moment.

Cedric's a wizard who's at about seventh year levels. He's not book smart like Hermione but he's got a lot of talent with spells, can learn and do just about any of the HP spells (and they have spells for everything), was a seeker on his school's Quidditch team (which means he can ride a broom really well), and is totally more awesome than Harry omg.

Rikku knows four basic (level 1) elemental spells: Fire, Blizzard, Water and Thunder. These are offensive/attack spells, but weak ones - less damage then punching someone, unless that particular enemy is weak to that element. The amount of water generated from "Water" has been mentioned in FH canon as being around a bucketful, "Blizzard" is that amount of ice, "Fire" is a small fireball, and "Thunder" is a weak lightning bolt.

Lulu will be teaching Rikku a basic white magic spell called "Esuna" at some point - it essentially fixes status effects. (If you're poisoned / silenced / petrified, it will remove that.)

In her canon, anyone can learn magic, so she could teach someone else these spells if they were so inclined, and if their canon background allows for learning magic.

Sam comes from a place where magic consists of protective charms and symbols, rituals, etc. (Anything reality-based, really.) His abilities lie with spells in Latin, especially exorcisms.

I'm putting this under magic and psychics cause I would classify as psychic-ness, but Tortall canon speaks of it as a type of magical Gift.

Aly can see immediately whether the person she looked at has magic or godhood (good or evil); whether the person is ill, pregnant, or lying. It also reveals the presence of poison in water or food. Her power makes it possible for her to clearly discern the tiniest of details, things invisible to the normal eye, or to see far into the distance, or to see even in the absence of light. She can see magic being done and the traces of magic after it's occurred or when it's set in a spell (i.e. a magical item or an inscribed spell into a door).

Prue's a witch, specifically one of the Charmed ones. She has the power of telekinesis and can astrally project herself pretty anywhere she wants. She can also write and perform spells and make potions.

Karal is something called a Mage Channel -- other than that he has no inherent magical abilities, and it's not something he himself can use.

Basically, magical power can be channelled through him and by doing so it's made stronger. It also allows power from a number of magic users to be combined into one 'stream'. It's pretty dangerous to him, depending on the level of power.

Squall can use "paramagic" -- essentially, how it works is this: there are a large number of magical entities called Guardian Forces that Squall can "junction" to. In addition to increased strength, vitality, agility, etc., he is also able to cast spells while they are junctioned -- however, he has a limited number of charges of each spell, and when they run out, he'll need to get more, which will involve going back to his world, which he doesn't want to do at the moment. Also, junctioning the GFs causes memory loss, so he's trying not to do it too often. He's got a good mix of both offensive and defensive spells to choose from.

He also has a few (not too many) items that are the equivalent of casting spells, which can be used by anyone. They can also be refined into extra charges of magic, so he won't be using them if he can help it.

Additionally, he can summon the GFs (only one at a time) to manifest physically and join in the battle.

Victor is a skilled - but untrained - sorcerer with a certain knack for summoning. He can conjure basic force blasts as well.

He is not nearly as good with magic as he claims he is, but that's just because he got distracted by the awesomeness of science. Most of his time studying magic tends to focus on trying to cross into Hell.

While having no inherent magic abilities of his own, Dean is familiar with protective charms, runes, rituals, etc. Generally he's left the Latin exorcisms to his brother, but probably could do them himself if he really needed to

Like any Buffyverse character, Angel can do whatever spell can be done by anybody who recites the words and puts the correct ingredients together.

Willow is one of the most Mary Sue powerful witches in Buffyverse. Or, at the very least, she grows up to be. Right now she's still learning but, unlike the other Buffyverse characters, she has the raw magical talent to do the real bad-ass spells.

Right now her two perfect spells are disinviting vampires and resouling Angel. (According to canon, the disinvitation spell needs a proper witch, but a beginning witch is fine. Angel's curse, however, is a powerful spell and Willow's the only known person in Buffyverse who can do it.)

She also has telekinesis which she can use to move small objects (pencils, stakes) around with some accuracy, and I've had her practicing to show her gaining the ability that lets her move bigger stuff.

Canon-wise her magic so works at the speed of the plot, but she's got locator spells, she's worked on an instant-sunlight spell, she's got some fire-starting, and later on in canon she gets things like teleportation spells into the mix as well as telepathy.

There are also more powerful magics that she uses in later seasons, but the implication is that she got them when she dipped into dark magic and her spells wouldn't have been the same if she'd stayed on the right path. OTOH in s7 there's the implication that she was always uber-powerful and just needed to know how to control her magic properly so... yeah. Though unlike before, I am playing her now with her spells working more often, since she's been practicing and researching. Just no dark veiny Willow type stuff. yet

Oh, and she's also known to hack spells to make them bigger, better, yellow, faster, different.

What Angel said; Xander comes from a universe where magic works, and he can do spells that any schmoe with the proper recipe book and spicerack can do, but he's got no inherent magical ability of his own.

Also sometimes when he thinks about two girls doing a spell together? He has to go do a spell by himself.

Anathema's canon hints that her type of magic is of working with runes, Latin incantations, and charms. That's what I'm going with. Anathema mostly relies on her more regular abilities, but she does have bits and bobs she's picked up though out the years. (She's completely self taught)

Kerrigan is familiar (and well-trained in) most firearms, as well as possessing great prowess with knives. Military-trained and very experienced, so she's quite good, although not infallible.

Military trained in hand to hand combat. But, he's pretty young and he hasn't been in the military long so his skills, while good, are not great.

He just sucks at horses.

Ohhhhh, this one. Yay. Due to the fact that Skrull DNA can be transfered onto other people, Chad will, on occasion and based on the amount of sexual activity he'd been having with his significant other, have the ability to shapeshift and heal himself, although his ability is significantly less than Teddy's. Ahhhh, Fandom and Marvel. Got to love them.

Inherent Abilities

Aziraphale can create and banish items at will, alter his surroundings, make people disappear and alter memories (although these last two he's very very unlikely to do). He can also heal, move from one place to another extremely quickly, and he knows if someone is lying. He can discorporate and possess other people's bodies, and can in some cases undo other possessions. He has wings, and can fly.

And he can, through the use of what seems in canon to be a summoning circle, communicate with Heaven.

Most of these, though, he doesn't do except for personal convenience, or if specifically asked.

Mostly what he does is make very good tea which is totally an inherent ability.

Hermione is really very used to being the sidekick. She'll head into trouble, but never gets to fight the actual bad guy. Therefore, support. She's competing for Research Queen, especially when it comes to magical stuff.

Kerrigan is a canonically incredibly powerful telepath and a telekinetic. Due to personal and training reasons, she keeps the former mostly to registering (and using for tactical purposes) surface thoughts, whereas the latter is contained mostly to her ability to boost speed, durability and strength, although if particularly provoked, she can use them for 'ordinary' telekinetics like breaking things, etcetera.

She also has the potential for generating a telekinetic storm (electric charge in the air that destroys most fleshy things) but has yet to have enough reason to break through her training enough to reach it.

I've mentioned it up above, but I'll mention it down here just to make it clear:

If she is aware of a combat situation about to happen, Kerrigan will wear her Ghost suit into battle. This gives her the power to cloak (attain invisiblity to the naked eye and most modern scanners) as well as helping her focus her telekinetic powers into increased strength, speed and durability and keeping her safe from slighter blows.

It's also very handy to carry guns around in.
