Brainstorming. Crack. A brainstorm of crack?

Hi!

So I am (as you may have noticed, heh) back from that whole hiatus I had going on, and I am feeling a need for more crack in the game -- things like pudding rain and weetiny giraffes. But crack does not spontaneously appear; it must be cultivated. This post is a place for us to brainstorm ideas, flesh them out, and get them together so they can be emailed to our lovely admins. (They can also be submitted via the suggestion box.)

Notes: 1)This post is for random event brainstorming, not BDE proposing. If an idea is small-scale and mostly silly, talk about it here. If it's large or dark, wait for an upcoming post from the admins. Or I will mock you.

2) If something is limited to one room or business -- say, everything in 502 is suddenly covered by a thin film of Velveeta -- you can do it without going through the admins. Though it would probably be nice to ask your roommate :-).

Me first?

1) All the potted plants on the island become sentient. Unfortunately, they're dumb.

2) Everyone who touches the dorm building door turns orange with checks.

3) Weetiny "helper" monkeys show up and make a mess of whatever they try to do.

4) A common room full of angry dandelions.

5) It hails hot dogs and other meat products.

Some of these will be a little specific to my characters, but will still be fun. :D

1. It snows ice cream... or Grape Judas... (Sky would be standing outside with his mouth open all day if it were the latter. ;x)

2. The restaurant owners open up one day to discover that all of their cooking utensils have developed minds of their own, and refuse to cook what customers want.

3. Evil pizzas. Tom and whichever employee is on that day seem to lose control of whatever pizzas come out of the oven- they roll out of the restaurant and try to smother passersby. The only way to stop them is to eat them, of course.

4. Pizza Planet itself, for one day, is made of actual pizza.

5. The banana suit wanders around town on its own.

6. A student switches bodies with his or her pet. Hijinx ensue. (I'm sure this has been done before, but still...)

7. Students are afflicted by a strange compulsion to talk in LOLcat and/or chatspeak all day.

I would pay for the banana suit to wander around town on its own on Tuesday. Reno would have no idea how the heck to mock Sky over radio.

To steal from im_afrog's canon, sorta, I've got this idea of the little rickshaw cabs around town coming to life and trapping their passengers inside for quasi-wild rides around the streets for a moddable duration of time (anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours?).

Maybe while other people chase them around and try to get them to stop.

1. I have this vision of swarms of those After Dark toasters (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cm7tv5cM8g) invading the island for a day.

2. Borrowing from my own canon, a rodeo truck overturns and a bull gets loose on the island, chasing anything in red. In Las Vegas canon, the bull collides head-on with a red sports car, but not before Mike freaks out over his red tie.

3. And from the wrong account, I do have something planned with Hoshi's food replicator going haywire and she ends up holding a party to get rid of all the excess food.

1. Something like Once More with Feeling, from Buffy's canon - i.e., random musical numbers, but they break the usual musical conventions in that people talk about the numbers, and little to-the-audience asides are considered shared information, etc. [I think there may have been one of these before my time, from things I've heard people say, but if so, we could have another one, maybe?]

2. Detachable Velcro limbs, for a day. Rip your arm off! Swap with someone else!

3. Random electronics become sentient, and will argue with you when you try to use them. (I.e., your laptop switches web pages to ones it thinks are more appropriate, the television suggests you read a book for once.)

4. Somewhat swiped from Labyrinth: beautiful fairies appear, but they are bitchy and nasty and bite you.

5. Somewhat swiped from The Sims: genies appear! They will grant you wishes! But they're kinda incompetent. A lot.

6. A common room where conversation has to start with sequential letters of the alphabet. (Ex.: "Are you feeling all right?" "Better than I was." "Can I borrow that?" "Don't mind if you do!")

7. Sitcom background audio: laugh track, applause when someone walks in, an audible "Awwwwww" for anything cute, and the guitar cue of Everyone's About to Hug and Make Up Now

8. Insane Japanese-style game shows, taking place in the common room for no apparent reason, where the questions are bizarre wrong answers mean you get hit with a rain of fish and so on. (I don't know if they really have those game shows in Japan, or if that's a weird misunderstood stereotype; I just think they'd be fun.)

... And speaking of game shows we so need another round of Fandom Peril. *salutes Hades*

In honor of the ever-popular 'questions, comments, pie' OCD, every time someone asks a question that day, they get hit in the face with a randomly-appearing pie.

1. It rains cats and dogs. Literally. People have problems trying to avoid stepping in poodles.

2. People randomly start talking in limericks, haiku or iambic pentameter.

3. For one day everyone must abide by the laws of physics according to Looney Tunes. Gravity has no meaning as long as you don't look down. You can stop a gun from firing if you stick a finger in the gun barrel. If you run away from someone and not look where you are going you leave a character shaped hole in the wall.

4. People randomly wake up and are only four to six inches tall.

1) Anytime someone utters the phrase 'bite me', a gremlin does so. Usual gremlin reaction follows.

2) The squirrels get bored with their spying and as a result, purposely mix their notes up for the radio broadcasts. Won't people have fun trying to sort all that out? MWHAHAHAHA!

If this ever happens? It should totally happen on a Wednesday so Ino can be overrun with stupid plants while she's at work. *giggles madly* And in her room! HA. Oh, Ino, you'd regret all your plants that day.

I would love to do this, mainly because I'm of the opinion that Gulliver is a lot more intelligent than most people realize. He just chooses not to correct them.
