Hey look, it's March! So let's start this month with another brainstorming post, shall we? You all know the drill by now. Suggestions go here, but just suggesting it won't guarantee that it happens, unless an admin decides it should be run or somebody approaches them with it as an event! Suggesting it here will get it added to Ye Olde Spreadsheet, though, so feel free to hop in and spitball!

On this laziest of 2019 Saturdays.

As per usual, I'm gonna put up some nifty OCD threads, you comment with any ideas for plots or events that you'd like to see happen, and maybe someday (admin permission pending) they will! If you leave a new idea, I'll update this handy-dandy spreadsheet here, all the better for keeping track of what has and hasn't been done yet!

This could have gone up yesterday, but I could also have gotten wrapped up in 3MD between bouts of swimming to work and then home again in a rainstorm, so you're getting it today!

The spreadsheet with previous ideas is here, so feel free to peruse to see if your idea has been suggested, and bring any ideas of your own to the table!

The Welcome to Dreamwidth edition!

The usual rundown applies here- brainstorming for plots and events goes within, game-wide events have to be approved by the admin team no matter what babble goes on inside this post, and I'll update this handy list over here with anything new that might pop up in the OCD!

The 'in like a lion' edition, I guess? Anyway, I'm at work, so I'll keep this brief. Ideas go in the big shiny post, but can't happen unless the admins go 'yay!'

A couple of days late, because, well, Newbie Weekend happened, and then I completely spaced on it yesterday. I did get to go see the world's largest, most complete discovered t-rex skeleton yesterday, though. That's cool, right? (SHE WAS HUGE.)

I should probably just start doing these things on Sundays. The first Saturday of the month is a busy time around the island, it seems!

Anyway, for those not in the know, these posts are OOC posts that go up once a month for FH players to discuss ideas for island-wide shenanigans and other such nonsense. They've been used in the past to brainstorm random events, like those Tabula Rasa events where people on the island forget everything, right on up to Big Damn Events- that time David Bowie in tight pants made a big maze on the island was the brainchild of a brainstorming thread.

It should be noted that while these posts spawn a massive amount of awesome ideas - there's a compilation of previous suggestions put together here for everyone's convenience - just discussing it in a brainstorming post isn't a guarantee that these events will happen on the island. Actually making a BDE take place, for example, takes a buttload of planning and organization, and needs to have admin approval before it can go anywhere beyond the planning stages. Random events need to be cleared with the admin team as well, though they're typically a bit more straightforward to put into action.

I'll be putting up a bit of OCD within the post, with explanations as to what each thread is for. Until then, hold tight and wait before tagging in, or I'll subject you to all of Jono's shirtless icons. OCD up! You've all avoided Jono's shirtless icons for another month, well-done!

Yesterday's regularly scheduled brainstorming post was postponed slightly due to the holiday, but it's here now for your possibly-slightly-hung-over idea-sharing pleasure!

I actually agonized over whether I should post this yesterday before I decided that if I didn't have any brains or time edgewise to participate in a brainstorming post around Welcome Picnic day, nobody else was probably going to either.

So! A brainstorming post, only one day late! Complete with a list of previous ideas!

Hi, folks! Those of you who were paying attention to the last Open Forum on into the wee hours of the morning (very wee, in fact, and Shannons should never stay up that late, sheesh) might have already figured out that I'm the sucker volunteer who offered to kick these things back into gear! Hi!

Those of you who have been around for a while might remember the brainstorming posts of old. A post would go up on a monthly basis, and people would chime in with ideas, suggestions, fully fleshed-out event ideas, little nibbly bits to dangle in front of fellow players, and so on, with the intention of drumming up new material and events for us to bring into the game. These things led to some pretty awesome stuff over the years, some of which have become regular Fandom staples since, like aged-up AU kids, Tabula Rasa, and Veritaserum days.

A few quick notes before I let you get to the brainery stormery stuff:

- First of all, these things are open for anyone in the game to chime in with their ideas, suggestions, and whatever spare parts they might have to contribute. I know I see a lot of awesome ideas pop up around Twitter from time to time that a lot of people miss out on because of the time of day or simply not having Twitter accounts, so it would be awesome if those ideas were to turn up here as well so that everyone can enjoy them!

- I'll be putting posts up on the first Saturday of every month from now on. I've actually set up notifs on my phone to remind me, because I occasionally like to play at being an organized adult.

- And it should be noted, too, that these posts are just for brainstorming, and that whatever sort of mod-approval type things people come up for in here still need to be run by the admins if we want to see them come into play in the game at large. Simply sharing an idea here isn't a guarantee that it will happen, but it's a good first step to gauging interest!

- The Admins have been kind enough to give me access to the Spreadsheet List of Past Brainstorming Ideas, which might need a little bit of grooming - Events that have been highlighted in pink have been done at some point or another, and I have the brains of a goldfish and don't trust myself to remember every random event we've done in the last three years. If you guys would be kind enough to ping into the appropriate OCD if you notice anything that hasn't been highlighted that should be, I would be super appreciative, thanks! I'll be keeping this sucker up-to-date with new ideas and highlighting things as they get played out from here on in.

- Also, so many kudos to TBQ and to Shanie, who started this thing back in the day and kept it going for a super long and fruitful run. I'm shamelessly stealing their setup for these myself, because it was familiar to the game at large, and good and effective.
