Yet more info! Safehouses, researchers, away teams and other stuff

Safehouses

The Safehouses will start from Thursday morning. They will work by having an adult or two in charge of a group of people in a largish space. This can be a common room, someone's house, town hall, the suites at the hotel, the gym, (lock in at Caritas?!) etc etc. The campus posts can be put up by students, and the adults ping in whenever they can, if availability is an issue.

The main point is to stay in groups, in a well-lit place with clear lines of sight.

There will be morning ones and evening ones - the evening ones are for sleeping, too. Those staying in the Safehouses can ping in whenever they like, with something of the feel of a slumber party for the night ones. There may be some small cracky things happening in the Safehouses to lighten the atmosphere, and keep everyone entertained.

We will be doing up a schedule of who and when for these soon.

Researchers

Everyone knows how this goes by now, but this time we'll be having research parties in the dorm computer labs as well as the library. There will be certain information found by them, both library researchers and internet researchers .

We'll be randomly picking the people who will find it, so feel free to have your character go off on wild tangents, finding all manner of bizarre possibilities, or simply find nothing at all!

These pieces of information will lead to the away teams being sent out, there to find the keys to the angels - five pieces of information that together will unlock the secret of how to defeat them.

Away Teams

There will be more info coming for the away teamers, but for now: there will be five groups, and they will start being sent out on Thursday/Friday.

Anyone who wanted to be a victim and got RNG'd out is welcome to sign up for the away teams. You must sign up below by midnight Friday EST or miss out. There will be a detailed away team post and a list of our away teamers on Saturday morning.

NPCs and you

WE WANT YOU!

We need people to play NPCs! People to play the angels and people to play NPCs in the past for our victims. We haven't decided on where each of the five locations will be yet, but the time period will be the 1920s/30s.

If you want make a suggestion as to where they end up and when, there is an OCD thread for that, too.

If you want to wrangle an angel or puppet an historical character, this is the place to let us know - we really can't do this one on our own! If you could indicate below if you
a) want to play an NPC,
b) whether you want to play an angel or a character from history, or both
c) Your availability the week of the BDE - more days you won't be available, or it will be spotty

There will be more to come !(Are you sick of this yet?)

[wait for OCD, plz It is up - have at it.]

[identity profile] morpherboy.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'd love to play an NPC, either angel or history or both. However, I can only do it after 4 pm Wednesday. After that point? My availability will be at 100%, including really, really odd hours. (Er...Pacific time)

Re: NPC me!

[identity profile] goodgirlmeg.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
I can play a history NPC. I have no class on Tuesdays and Thursdays so my best days will be then. But I'm home after 3pm MWF.

I'd love to NPC either, but my availability can be sporadic during the day on weekdays and the Sunday of the finale. I'm free from 7 EST or so on, though.

Re: NPC me!

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
a) NPC!
b) either or!
c) Not around on Wednesday, and sporadic 9am to 5pm EST, but I'm very free on Saturday and Sunday.

Re: NPC me!

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
a) Yes
b) Angel fine, historical character depends on answer to question below Now that I have my answer I'd much rather do a historical character if possible. No angels for me except the one, but he's enough
c) My boss will be gone Wed and Thurs next week. JOY!

Chicago would be an interesting place to be in the 20s/30s. You know...if you want to be killed by the mob.

Re: Where do you want to go yesterday?

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
I was going to suggest 1920s Chicago too. :)

In all seriousness, keep Jenny the frak away from Germany, because she WILL hunt Hitler down and shoot him in the head to correct her biggest mistake.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
This isn't a specific suggestion for locale, but it occurs to me that women got the right to vote in the U.S. in 1920, which could be an interesting dynamic for certain characters to play with.

[identity profile] cantjossme.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I suddenly flashed back to Twelve Monkeys where Bruce Willis's character showed up in the middle of WWII.

So... World War II.

[identity profile] dojima-hime.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
St. Paul, Minnesota would be interesting, since it was operating as an independent city-state during that time period. Got problems with the Feds? Go to St. Paul. (http://away.com/primedia/pol_soc/gangster_stpaul1.html) Ain't no one hauling your ass back to stand trial.

Also, sending high school students to Minnesota in the dead of winter is funny.

The Dutch East Indies just after the Second World War.

The 1960's, like, anywhere, or the Old West. Tombstone Arizona around the time of Wyatt Earp!!!

[identity profile] neurotic-witch.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Do people have to be in safehouses at all times?

I know I'm going to have some periods of massive AFK throughout the plot and I as kind of planning to shove Chris in his room with books.

Re: Questions?

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
For NPC characters are we talking actual history or fictional history? For instance, Jeeves & Wooster would be time-appropriate fictional characters.

HI! I have a couple of questions, not specifically about this topic but I am dim and do not know where to ask what so I put them here. WOO!

1) Will classes be running all week, or cancelled near the end, or is that up to the teacher, or is this To Be Determined?

2) Are people free to make their own attempts at locating / rescuing the missing, so long as they don't find anything? (e.g., Naminé tries to open a portal to someone, but it doesn't go anywhere)

3) Will there be pie?
the_merriest: ((chibi) whoa cool)

[personal profile] the_merriest 2008-03-07 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Hooray, thanks! I think I could get behind a universe with blueberry pie filling in its veins.

Also GMail decided to put this over my notification:

Have a craving for pie? - www.honda.com - The Crave Reader can guess what else you're craving. Check it out.

Does this mean Honda has pie?
