Yep, it's that -- now actually monthly rather than biweekly -- time again!

That time when the heavens open up and ideas pour forth in an almighty downpour of inspiration and . . . I'm stopping there before I decide to unleash every overwrought description I can come up with. My brain has been in a weird, weird, weird place lately.

Anyway! Ideas time! At the request of the admins, we're doing a special section today dedicated to winter-themed plots, ideas, and randomness as well.

OCD is ~~coming up, and once that's set brainstorming is go~~ up -- get your boots and mittens and all that other snow gear stuff!

Daily events? Random events? The seed of something that might yet germinate into a plot?

I so want something similar to Piper's (I think it was Piper, my memory is swiss cheese today) spell where everyone had to tell the truth for the entire day when talked to.

It could be general island weirdness this time but I so wanna do this again.

Yes! That was fun. And the potential for character torture is strong. :D

There's a plant in Ella's canon that makes you tell the truth. It only lasts for a few moments in the book, though, so there'd have to be a way to intensify that. (Maybe through ingestion, since in the book it's inhaled?)

And yes, I so want to see the truth-telling happen again.

Inadvertently catastrophic result of being handled by magic users from other worlds? Maybe someone like Liir or Tony who doesn't have full control over their abilities yet?

That could work, yeah. The effects of another magical plant in the book lasts for several hours after being cooked and eaten, so there's no reason the effects of the truth flower (I forget the technical name in the book) couldn't also last all day in the right circumstances.

Maybe Liir tries it in a kitchen experiment and Things Go Badly? *shamelessly volunteers someone else's character, yep!*

ALSO in the book the person who had been telling the truth forgets the conversation as soon as she steps away from the flower, so it has that cloudy lack-of-consequences thing that Piper's spell had.

I could live without the cloudy lack of consequences. I think that was a Charmed canon thing that a huge lot of us had to stand on our heads to try and get around.

I'm really neutral on that point. I liked not having the consequences for Tyler last time, but he was talking about being a terrorist. (And, of course, now he's far less OMG NO ONE MUST KNOW even if it's still not something he usually volunteers.)

Let me go home and look at the book and see if it's explained why Hattie doesn't remember and if there's a way around that. From what I remember, though, the scene just sort of handwaves about it. if someone else has a mechanism they want to use instead I'm all for that.

I had this thought at way too early this morning, so I don't know how it would work, but I'd kind of like to see everyone play their very first IG character for a day or a weekend or something.

Maybe like a reunion, but without warning?

Has that plot seed grown into a pretty little BDE sprout that now needs watering and planting and compost and TLC?

God!Girl is still available to receive divine instructions for any plots!

Ichigo's always available if you need someone who can walk around in spirit form without being seen by anyone else. For example to get behind enemy lines or you know, to just overhear or see something no one else should be seeing.

Still wants an invasion of Sleestak.

Winter brainstorms! Require less shoveling and salting and plowing than winter snowstorms.

Hmm. Well I say we get a visit from the island of misfit toys.

Better yet: The island gets fed up with the cold weather and transports itself to the Caribbean for a week.

* A movable ice-skating rink that takes over one common room at a time

* Winter beverages (hot chocolate, hot buttered rum, etc.) flow from the taps.

* All of the coats on the island turn into snowsuits, the kind that basically mummify the kid inside

* Invasion of wee, sentient snowmen

* Calvin & Hobbes-style snowman building contest

Visit from Santa.

Yeah, so as it turns out I do have all of the Once More With Feeling soundtrack on my Zune. *BLAMES PEOPLE*
