Character Abilities Tally

Guess who gets to steal another post from Erin?

(Hint: It's me)

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Please be as thorough as possible, as this will help everyone out with plots and knowing who can fill what roles.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

**Wait for the OCD omg or I will take you up on a roof and Chuck Bass you.** OCD up and nobody is getting molested. Huzzah!

1 In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

2 For those of you who had characters around the last couple years and just want to C&P what you put in the post then, here are some shiny links for you.

Marco is an excellent tactic person. He can see the whole pictures and figure out how to get from point A to point B. He'll be the first to see what's wrong with a plan and how suicidal it is.

Chad's fluent in three languages: English, Japanese, and Spanish. He also knows some French (and Italian if you count omg designers).

Lt. Gordon says Harvey's got a hell of a right hook and if Jim Gordon is wrong then I don't want to be right.

Um yeah...I'm guessing "alien technology given powers" go here. Marco can touch an animal to absorb it's DNA and then "morph" into that animal for a limit of two hours. When in morph, Marco can use < thought speak > to "talk" to people. Through morphing, he can survive pretty much any near fatal injury. He also has the ability to keep talking even when it would have been better to shut up.
And he knows how to fly a few alien space ships. Well, "fly" is probably too nice a word. He knows how to generally steer them while not crashing too hard.

Harvey is very good at leading and can organize things on a mass scale.

Re: Magic Abilities

Alanna is Gifted. What this means is she has some, rather random, magical abilities. She can heal but nothing more complicated than a fracture. If the bone is broken, she can only heal it a little after it's been set, etc. Because of the way she's been taught magic (randomly) her spells are from all over the place. Canon has had her using thread magic, TK, turning objects into other objects, casting fire/engergy balls, casting illusions, and some defense and attack spells. Like I said, very very random. Oh, and using magic causes her fatigue. If she over extends herself, she can pass out or even die. Her magic is part of her. Her mind is blocked.

Mina is trained enough in fighting that she can go from 'knife to her throat' to 'having a midnight snack' in less than a second.

No fancy martial arts, just... good old fashioned fisticuffs.

Re: Weaponry

[identity profile] threeweapons.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Alanna likes swords, though now she has a new, non-magical sword. She's still one of the best with it.
Daggers: She can use them (throw, stab, chop) but she'll prefer not to.
Axe: She can use it, and she's getting good.
Crossbow/bolt: She can use them, her aim is good but not awesome.

Re: Fighting Abilities

[identity profile] threeweapons.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Alanna can punch and hit and was taught to wrestle but because of her tiny self, she's not the best of it. She's quick and has good endurance (and a lot of training).

Against someone with no training, she will win. Against someone with training, it depends on what's going on.

[identity profile] threeweapons.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Alanna's Gift means you can't read her mind unless you're very, very talented, and even then, you're going to have to get very lucky because she's protected by a Godess. Alanna is now more aware of this ability.

Kaylee's a mechanical Sue. Give her something to fix, and provided that she has the equipment to do so, she'll do it faster and probably better than the average mechanic. She says in canon that machines just "talk to her," which I don't think is the presence of any sort of supernatural ability as much as it's just Kaylee having a sixth sense for what might be wrong and how to repair it.

Alanna is a healer with some training on the battlefield. She also has a good background in history of her world, battlefield tactics, and various foreign languages.

[identity profile] armybrat-lois.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Lois is pretty good with all sorts of guns, thanks to growing up in the army. She can also use bats and knives with skill.

Kaylee speaks Chinese! Or well, she knows some basic phrases and can swear VERY COLORFULLY in it.

Hurley can kick your ass at ping pong. He has near professional player skills at the game.

I forgive you.

Lois is very, very good in hand to hand combat. She's a black belt in karate and can take down fully grown men with little trouble.

Re: Miscellaneous!

[identity profile] armybrat-lois.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Lois has the ability to get you put under government surveillance. True story. She can also pick locks and totally walk it off.
withoutverona: (oh happy dagger)

Romeo is incredibly comfortable around handguns and is a very good shot.

[identity profile] notqueenyet.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Aravis is fairly skilled with a scimitar, though she is still learning to control it. While she's used to the weight and feel of her own weapon, she could probably pick up any sword (given that she COULD pick it up) and learn her way around it as well.

[identity profile] mauledbyabear.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Emmett doesn't really need to use guns but he'd be a pretty good shot thanks to his inherent skills as a vampire. The same goes for a bow and arrow. He'd really rather just use his bare hands.
