Character Abilities Tally

It's that time again omg.

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Please be as thorough as possible, as this will help everyone out with plots and knowing who can fill what roles.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!

**Wait for the OCD omg or Chuck will get Nate to go out with you and then dump you two episodes later** OCD UP!

1 In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

2 For those of you who had characters around the last couple years and just want to C&P what you put in the post then, here are some shiny links for you.

Emmett's a vampire! He's got super strength, speed, smell, eyesight, hearing and his skin is like granite. He is also extremely graceful and agile and can jump, really, really high. Pretty much a big ol' Marty Stu when it comes to powers.

And he dazzles.

Fiona is a goddess! Well, officially anyway. She's half Immortal and half, well, Infernal. Fallen Angel. Her mother is Atropos/Death/the Pale Horseman and her father is Lucifer/the Prince of Darkness/the Deceiver. She's also eaten from the Golden Apple of Immortality. In short, this means.
1. she doesn't have to eat
2. her flesh is unyielding and incredibly hard to break
3. she can look at the threads that make up reality (in her view) and she can manipulate them (though she probably won't)
4. she can cut anything as long as she has an edge and the desire to do so, and that goes for things like emotional ties, etc.
5. she can look down a thread (her own or someone else's), for information on the future but sometimes it's not very helpful
6. she's faster and stronger than a human being
7. she never gets a bad hair day (excepting when the glitter storms come)

OMG you guys know the Jedi drill by now. Telekinesis, empathy, enhanced reflexes, ability to augment her physical abilities through the Force (speed, jumping, slowing down falls, speeding up healing through trances, etc.), Force-sense, basic mindwhammying, blah blah blah.

Control is still an issue for her, so while she can do stuff like throw you thirty meters easily, Force-picking a lock is a lot more difficult.

OMG she's not at the bottom of the Fandom Jedi skill scale any more. :D

Ghanima is Pre-Born. She awoke to full, adult consciousness before birth, receiving the genetic memories of both her male and female ancestors. This means she's got a LOT of tau awarenesses in her head, basically going all the way back to the dawn of Humanity. Yes, they are genetic memory-imprints of real people. Yes, they're real. No, she's not crazy when she's muttering under her breath to people you can't see. What they know, she knows, be it combat or history.

Being Pre-Born also means she also has the Atreides Curse lingering at the fringes of her mind; Ghanima has the barest bit of prescience. It manifests as instinct and flashes of intuition, or through playing with the Dune tarot. If she thinks something is a bad idea? STOP. She's probably having a pre-cognitive moment.

Last, but far from least, anything a Bene Gesserit can do, Ghanima can do too. This involves using the Voice to control people, simulflow multi-tasking, limited teleportation via the Weirding Way, and Truthsaying.

He can be hard light or soft light, as necessary. What this means is, sometimes he can walk through things. Also, as a hologram, he can't really 'die' so much as shut off; his program is back on the 'Dwarf and Starbug, etc. Being hard light, he can actually survive a bit and could possibly serve as some sort of block if necessary.

Okay, so, Ned's got this little power wherein he can bring dead people back to life with one touch of his finger.

But, there are strings. He can only bring them back for sixty seconds and then he has to either kill them again by touching them or he let's them live and something or someone of a comparable stature has to die in the alive again's place.

Yeeeeeeep.

Loki's an angel! He's formerly the angel of death so he'd killed a lot of people under God's command.

Stated abilities include: the ability to rain things down from the heaven, the ability to "see" people's past sins and transgressions, the ability to fly, the ability to not be hurt in a fight, the ability for quick healing, above average intelligence among certain topics, and knowing God, Jesus, and all those other guys.

Lion-o's sword is a big ol' plot device. It flies right to his hand when he calls for it, and it can show him Sight Beyond Sight, letting him view distant events in real time. The sword also displays a visual signal if he needs to summon others.

Castiel is an angel. He has wings, can teleport, move things with his mind, put people to sleep/send them back in time/alter their memories/invade their dreams/cast out demons by touching a person's head, bring people back from the dead, and shut off car alarms with a wave of his hand. He's invulnerable to human weaponry and can burn the eyes out of your skull just by appearing in front of you in his true form. He just, you know, probably won't do that stuff.

A running list of his abilities and limitations is here.

A reiteration of caste-abilities, since belonging to a caste is inborn.

Mitchell is also a vampire of the Being Human cloth, which means extra strength, speed, and durability (he can get hit by a speeding car and get up quick as hell afterwards). His eyes turn black if he's about to feed or feels excessive bloodlust, he can handle sunlight (but his eyes are sensitive and he'd rather not), stakes to the chest'll kill him, doesn't reflect in anything laced with silver, and has a massively awesome sense of smell.

Oh, and can't drink anything but proper human blood straight out of the person.

Sam is a dog. A humanoid dog, but still a dog. He's got a very keen sense of smell, and can communicate with other dogs.

So if you missed it up above, Helen has this arm...

Her right arm... well, that can be turned into pretty much anything - animate or inanimate. In the book she once turned it into a copy of a weird totem pole with vicious heads biting at each other till they drew blood. And of course, as the living blade - which looks like a bar of light - she can cut through the barriers to worlds and kill any demon of any size or level.

Like all Jedi, Ben has the enhanced reflexes, telekinesis and empathic thing. And Jedi healing techniques--but he's very, very rusty on those. He also has perfect recall. He has the ability to disappear completely in the Force: it'd feel like he died to other Force-sensitives.

He's pretty young, though, so he's still learning most of the tricks.

Anakin is the Martiest Stu ever to tromp through the SW-verse. He has enhanced reflexes, telekinesis, telepathy, empathy, and the ability to see the past and future. He also has the power of the mindwhammy and all of the stuff he learned as a Sith.

Not that he'd use it.

...Probably.

He trains a guy to use the Force to yank a Star Destroyer out of the sky. You decide how good he is.

[identity profile] tatooine-doofus.livejournal.com 2009-07-09 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, another Jedi.

Telepathy, empathy, enhanced senses, mindwhammy, ability to see the future occasionally.

He's not as powerful as his father, but it's pretty close.

Re: Inherent Abilities

[identity profile] berserkerminsc.livejournal.com 2009-07-09 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
While Rangering is a learned skill, Minsc has been doing it so long that being a Ranger basically is inherent, and he could track animals in his sleep if he had to. This gives him a practical sixth sense for noticing things about the terrain and what animals are in the area just by being there, practically. He reads tracks, scents, plantlife, droppings, you name it. KEEN ANIMAL SENSES! He can also communicate with animals, not in actual speech, but by almost always being able to sense what they're trying to communicate. For reasies, too. Boo is an exception, because with Boo, he's just kind of making it all up. But other animals he's good with.

Mina has immense superhuman strength, the ability to call bats to her and control them (such action can allow her to fly), and ridiculously powerful self regeneration.

Slight, almost unnoticeable tingling in the back of his head when there's a Goa'uld around. Not quite to the same level as a normal former host, but there's traces of naquadah in his blood even after the cloning process.

Re: Inherent Abilities

[personal profile] ashockingbitch 2009-07-09 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Jenny is a 'century baby,' the Spirit of the 20th Century, to be exact. This means that as of right now she has a hundred years of living behind her, but more importantly, she is very durable physically (she can be wounded, but she heals fast, and she is incredibly, staggeringly hard to actually kill) and can not only control electricity to a ridiculous degree, she is made of electricity in some weird mystic way that is totally compatible with being made of flesh and blood at the same time.

More about electricity: Jenny can generate electricity ranging from tiny sparks to lightning bolts and sometimes huge electrical storms (though they can be taxing), she can detect electrical fields including the ones that denote human presence, she can subtract/cancel electrical fields including the one powering the human brain, she can turn herself into pure energy and travel through a power grid or just be a giant transparent sparky pissed off Jenny (I do not even know), and she can mask her presence from sensor technology.

Steve is a supersoldier. His strength, agility, durability, and speed are all at the peak of human possibility. So he's really tough and it's really hard to bring him down. He also heals as quickly as it's possible for a human to heal, bearing in mind that when I say 'human' I mean sapiens, not superior, so it does take him some time He also handwavily trains pretty much constantly to maintain himself in the best possible shape he can be in.

I'm not comfortable calling it a mutation, because canon doesn't specify why it happens, so I'll put it here: Jill turns into a guy for roughly four days a month.

Samuel is a werewolf, and basically a werewolf prince at that. He is insanely long-lived, being over 1250 years old. And now I c/p from his infopost because it's the most efficient way I've ever presented this information:

As the Marrok's firstborn son, Samuel is the second most powerful werewolf in North America and his father's second-in-command when he's not lone-wolfing it. As a lone wolf, he doesn't want any trouble or to put anybody out, so he just sort of goes with the flow--the luxury of the powerful.

In human form, Samuel has enhanced reflexes, senses, and speed. In his wolf form, he is white with ice-blue eyes, and he's big even for a werewolf--and most of them weigh upwards of two hundred pounds. He resembles an outsized wolf in many respects, with more muscle, but his front legs are articulated more like a bear's than a dog or wolf's. Drugs do not work on him and he heals normal wounds very quickly, but silver is poison and a wound inflicted with a silver implement will heal at the same speed as a normal person would heal. He does have to change into a wolf at the full moon and hunt (in the Preserve), but other than that he can change at will. The change from human to wolf and back is not instantaneous: it takes several minutes, it is painful, and he shouldn’t change back for at least a couple of hours afterward. Under extreme conditions he can switch back and forth quickly, but he’ll be drained for a while afterward.

As a very dominant werewolf, people tend to want to follow Samuel’s directions and commands (unless of course they are very dominant themselves), and he has some resistance to mental coercion. This is mostly dependent on the strength and determination of the caster. For example, Edward Cullen’s low-level, subconscious ‘dazzle’ wouldn’t faze him, while a Jedi mind trick focused on him and cast by Anakin Skywalker probably would, and would be a very bad thing.

Spock is half-Vulcan. This means he prizes logic and the mastery of emotion above all else, although his Human side occasionally means he fails at the 'mastery of emotion' bit of things. He has pointy ears and green blood (due to its being copper-based), and is substantially stronger than your average human. Vulcan is a desert planet, meaning Spock's body temperature is substantially higher than a Human's and he can tolerate temperatures Humans would find unacceptably hot.

Also, as a Vulcan, he's a touch telepath, but more on that in the Psychics thread.
