Character Abilities Tally Version 2.0: Shorter But Size Doesn't Matter, Right?
Hey, guys!
For everybody's convenience in plotting, we try to keep a running list of the various abilities possessed by FH characters. If you ever find yourself saying, "Hey, I need a magic user/archer/person who can whistle Dixie while eating crackers and covering one eye," that list of powers is meant to be there for you to take a look at.
It's been a while since we did this, but we've made some changes we hope you'll like, in the interim:
Anything that is a canon power or ability of your character (including those developed at FH) and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. This is for all character types - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything, not just the wacky powers. We also appreciate yer fighting, research, weapons, support skills and Dixie whistling, baby.
Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to do this!
[Wait for the OCD or every radio broadcast from now until December will contain a hidden rick-roll. OCD up! Have at it!]

It's been a while since we did this, but we've made some changes we hope you'll like, in the interim:
- All of the previous posts have been compiled into a spreadsheet that you can always head over to check (it'll be linked on the FH community info page)
- From now on, we only need people to fill this out for new characters, or if you have an update or correction for your older ones. If your stuff is listed over on the spreadsheet, don't worry about this!
- We've streamlined the categories a bit to focus on "what can you do" instead of worrying about whether that's a magic or mutant or inherent ability. So the wacky powers are now just broken into spellcasting, psionic powers, and superhuman physical attributes. (Thanks to
puppy_fair for that suggestion.)

Spellcasting Abilities
Re: Spellcasting Abilities
Re: Spellcasting Abilities
As an Endless (which she isn't, technically, at the moment), she can bend perceptions and shift the world to make it suit what she wants. Her siblings tend to do this a lot more than Death does.
Also as Death, she's there when creatures are born and when they die, and seems to have very limited precognition in that she knows how things will die. (But not other details.)
Re: Spellcasting Abilities
Mat wears a medallion that repels magic--at least if cast by women. His medallion goes cold and the threads they are weaving just disappear. Since the magic-wielding women at home don't like him much, he never ever takes it off.
This doesn't mean they can't use magic to throw things at him, and it doesn't work against men wielding magic either.
Re: Spellcasting Abilities
She is able to create shields and has some skill at spells. She would be able to do a simple love charm, for example.
But being based in fire, her magic isn't as affective against water. Unless she was using fire, she wouldn't be able to counteract water directly. No stopping tidal waves on her watch.
Eleanor can also call upon Fire Elementals, supernatural beings that are a living essence of fire. Most commonly for her, these are Salamanders. They tend to be small, but can be larger if given more power. They will fight for her (and anyone with her) against enemies.

Basically, if you can think of something, Ronan can probably write a spell to do it, if there's not one already written; however, the more complicated the idea, the more power it will require, and while Ronan's still young enough that he's not quite dropped to his adult power levels yet, he's not at the levels he used to be, either. (In Ronan's universe, wizards essentially trade off power for experience as they age; you have less to work with, but you know better how to make use of it.)
As for things Ronan can and will have access to on a regular basis, he's developed something of a specialty for healing wizardry, more specifically with injuries (although he can certainly handle illness as well); he's had a fair bit of experience with battle wizardry, and has a fondness for fire; he'll use transport-wizardries (what his friends fondly call the 'Beam me up, Scotty' spell in canon, although I'll avoid that name for meta reasons) to get around rather than using Portalocity; and, thanks to Fandom, he's had experience with clothing-making spells, and with spells to change the way that molecules reflect light. Mostly to make things glittery.
He can also make a spell-thing called a mochteroof, which is essentially a way to 'skin' yourself to look, feel, smell, and sound like someone or something else. In canon, they were used to make a group of wizards seem to be members of an alien race; in Fandom, Ronan's also made ones that look like other people.
Re: Spellcasting Abilities
She's also learned some high-level white magic, namely Curaga, Esuna, and Holy; Curaga will heal injuries, Esuna will heal status-ailments, and Holy is 'light'-elemental attack spell.

Max's powers fall roughly into the category of 'magic', but they're really all Jedi-y. This is a pretty ridiculous list, so please bear with me. Using his awesome powers of furycrafting, Antillar Maximus can: sense emotions, magically heal people, influence emotions, give himself super-strength, influence peoples' libidos, give himself super-endurance (going without sleep for days on end, drinking a whole lot without getting drunk, ignoring pain), sense metal around him and also feel whatever metal is touching, give himself super-speed, make things invisible by bending light around them, make himself invisible by making people just ignore his presence. And if that weren't enough Max can directly manipulate the elements of fire, water, air, earth, metal, and wood which means he can shape them and move them around and stuff. And on top of that he can sense things through them. He can tell who's walking on a piece of ground that's connected to the one he's walking on (up to a certain range), and similar things for the other elements.
