Workshop Brainstorming

I can't be the only one who saw the 'submit your summer workshop' post go up and internally flailed because I have *no* clue what to teach.

(and if I am, lie to me?)

So even though it's not technically a 'plot', I figured a brainstorming post to talk about summer workshops couldn't be a bad idea.

Students: What kind of workshops do you want to see? Teachers: What kind of workshops are you thinking about running? Everyone: What workshops have you really enjoyed? What has made previous workshops fun to RP? Or difficult to RP?

I'm not putting up OCD threads.

Just to open with something I've been puzzling over -- I'd like to do a language workshop with this guy. What's the best way to present French so it won't seem like a total drag of a workshop? I thought of French cinema, but a)I don't know much about that and b)canonically, Henry has a hard time with filmed entertainment -- flashing lights sometimes trigger time travel for him.

(He speaks German, too, but while my French is poor to mediocre, my German is nonexistent. So.)

Also, just to answer your question, I tend to like workshops that involve activities, and ones where I can rely more on what my character already knows than on academic learning. Which is broad, yep, but it's what I have.

Yeah the newbie class is something I've been considering doing for Marty as well just to get him out and active again.

HEE.

I admit, part of the reason I don't want to do cinema is that I can't teach a movie I haven't watched, at least not in this crowd. And I'm not sure I want to devote 14 hours of my life to class research.

... aka naptime.

*Account-lazes*

Emmett would love to see a karaoke class from someone.

Aaaand I'm so used to looking at things from Francine's POV that I'm blanking on what else would be interesting. *sobs, moves graduation to July*

My cohort ([livejournal.com profile] shiroi_tiger) and I are putting together a proposal/syllabus for "Fandom 101" for Summer Term I! So we've got that end covered!

Is it wrong I want Cindy to teach a Death and You class, based on Kubler-Ross's five stages of grief?

...she asks from the wrong journal
