20 Years Reunion Brainstorming

A suggestion was made in the original info post to provide a brainstorming post for everyone to rattle off ideas, plan futures, coordinate relationships and whatever else might be needed for the plot!

And thus, the brainstorming post has been birthed and lo, we present it to you for all the storming of the brains you might need to do! Have fun planning!

Age at the Reunion: 39

Backstory I've worked out so far: Reno and Rikku married and settled down into a nice little domestic life on Spira, with two kids, Ruba and a boy we haven't named yet.

They worked on rebuilding Spira, with side trips to Gaia to help with its rebuilding. They still took missions, to kill monsters or deal with problem elements, although they had a rule: they never worked together on the more serious missions, just in case everything went to hell. One of them had to survive to raise the kids.

In other words, they were pretty up front about the fact that their respective worlds had a shitty life expectancy, and made plans. Which is good, because this is where we get to the sad part.

Reno won't be coming to the reunion. It was four years ago. Rikku misses him every day. She's also in an okay place right now, dealing with it. She was strong for the wee ones, and the Al Bhed live pretty communally, which means she didn't have to go through it alone.

She still wears her ring, but it's on a chain around her neck. There's no one special in her life right now -- she's not saying there never WILL be, because Reno would come back just to haunt her if she gave up on dating again. But nobody has clicked. Reno's a hard act to follow.

There would have been a notice of some kind going out, for general purposes, to anyone that Rikku thought would want to know. If you're really close -- posse, Momo, etc -- you may have been invited to a very small funeral. There was no fancy memorial service. He didn't want one.

She will smile and say "thank you" to anyone who expresses their condolences, but she might change the subject. It's not something she likes to talk about in great detail (again, with the exceptions of people she's close to).

How she could fit into your character's backstory: Rikku would have sent out chirpy e-mails now and then, keeping in touch with people and chattering away. These will have dropped off somewhat after the wee ones, because of time, and dropped off pretty severely after Reno's death, because trying to be chirpy at that point was hard. She still stays in touch, it's just more sporadic.
