The Perk

The Perk had not lost its name over the past few decades, though no one remembered nor cared what the name stood for at this point. It had gone through considerable redecorating, as had most of the island: grey tones, interspersed with red and yellow. Lions. That sort of thing.

Some of the servers were simply quiet and slightly rude. Others had sunken eyes and shivering hands. There were still a few scraps of pie up for sale, for the usual prices - much more than they would've asked for them a scant few years ago.

There was a sign in merry retro-neon screaming at you to Respect Your King. That was nice.

The Dorms

Most of the color had been ripped from the walls in fits of revolutionary fury. Now, the dorms were a tribute to minimalism-- to a point, at least. Screens lined the walls of the halls and the common rooms. They could be activated with a touch, for anyone interested in re-reviewing any of the myriad of entertainment programs they offered.

They were all either distractions or propaganda. But who cared, right? Grab your measly ration of the day and watch a nice, soothing documentary on the rise of the glorious leader Frank Underwood, Jr. This one's got extra romance!

Oh, yes, Johnny was going to sit down in a common room and watch the TV with his meal. You could tell just by looking at him that he was concentrating very hard on what he was watching.

Oh, no, he wasn't paying attention to the program. He was mostly making sure that he was properly projecting focused heat into the TV without letting it set on fire. Fire caused suspicion. Overheating TVs were a standard manufacturer defect.

And that was how Johnny Storm passed the time until the secret meeting later tonight.
