Brainstorming!

Yesterday's regularly scheduled brainstorming post was postponed slightly due to the holiday, but it's here now for your possibly-slightly-hung-over idea-sharing pleasure!

Here's the stuff that's been suggested before! Have at it!

Like, "I dunno, everyone is mermaids?"

If everyone is mermaids, the musical instruments and books and such had best magically dry out on Monday!

Or at least become the mer-equivalent at the time to compensate?

Has there ever been any kind of a Groundhog Day thing? Everybody does stuff, it all resets the next day?

Not that I can recall! I've added it to the list! Could be fun to noodle with!

Like, "I would like to propose an event where everybody's left foot sock develops a mind of its own. Naturally this will lead to the following shenanigans: ..."

OKAY SO. I have about 55% of a My Little Pony based BDE thought out. A good 40% is made up entirely of "So what if Discord came to Fandom?"

Discord, for those unfamiliar with MLP:FiM, is basically Q from Star Trek: the Next Generation. (Literally. He's even voiced by John de Lancie.) For those not familiar with Q, think Fandom only anthropomorphized and with a certain amount of malicious intent.

So think of it: like, people wouldn't even notice something was up for a long time. Wake up one morning and everyone's turned into ponies? Eh, that just happens around here, sometimes. It starts raining chocolate milk? It usually doesn't happen at the same time as something else, but hey, still not exactly unfamiliar! The roads turn to soap? Okay, that's new but WHATEVER, FANDOM.

This frustrates the HELL out of Discord. Part of the joy is watching everypony freak out! So he keeps upping his game. Houses start floating. People have their personalities reversed or get turned into cartoon dogs. The gremlins form a marching band. All the plants in the park turn plaid. Is anypony noticing yet? Eventually he must be taken out (canonically either by turning him into stone or befriending him). The final showdown happens in a DESSERT STORM, perhaps.

Okay, so maybe I only have, like, 33% of it worked out. ANYWAY. I think it could be fun. . . .

Seriously, this would be SUPER FUN. All of he crazy seems pretty harmless, especially to Fandomites, but once it starts stacking up it'd be the best sort of mass chaos. :D

Exactly! Plus: cartoon physics for everypony! Which would be useful when you have SOAP STAIRS all over the island. . . .

Like, you could end up in a full body cast from something -- and then anywhere from the end of that thread to the end of the plot, suddenly be perfectly fine again.

Cartoon physics are spectacular! :D Even my weird ones would need to adjust to something like that!

... Okay, Mabel would have a blast with it while needing to adjust.

So it's the finale that needs to be noodled at, mostly, from the look of it? Would you like a hand with that? :D

I would love it. I haven't run a plot on the scale of a BDE before and frankly I'm pretty intimidated by the idea. For the build up, I figure a lot of it could come from the players, very choose your own chaos, to go along with island-wide "random" events. The trick will be figuring out how to get rid of Discord in the end. Stone is canon, and a new weird statue in town could be fun, but I don't know who in town would have the ability to do something like that, or how to get lots of folks involved. . . .

I'm actually in and out, today, and a three hour drive from my notes, but I can type something up this evening and we can noodle slowly?

I will be happy to slow-noodle whenever works best for you! :D There's no rush.

Kaylin could manage the turning into stone part - not on purpose, but accidentally probably.

I also like this a lot! I can see Cosima trying to science it out and getting all frustrated, which would be fun.

Such as, "My character sneezes in rainbow colours, which might come in handy at a Pride party if there's a lot of pepper."

Or, "Remember that garden out by the dorms that totally grows pillow trees? I do. That should get used for a thing."

Or even, "Radishes. Discuss."

Radishes.
