Brainstorming!
It's that time again! Brainstorming season is upon us! You know, that post for ideas and stuff, if there's anything you want to see come into being, from random events to Big Damn ones. The list for past ideas is over here, and I'll update it to add anything new anybody might add this time around.
Remember, just because something's been discussed in this post doesn't mean it'll necessarily happen. Somebody's still got to get the ball rolling on that stuff, develop the idea, take it to the admins and make it actually be a thing! But this is a good place for spitballing with the general population of the game to gauge interest or help fill in gaps that might be in your own planning. And if you don't see this post this weekend, don't sweat it, you can still comment on it whenever you like, and I'll update the spreadsheet with new ideas right up until it's time to make a new post, next month.
Have at it, folks!

General Ideas!
Otherwise known as, "something like this should happen sometime," or "wouldn't it be cool if," the thread.
Re: General Ideas!
I am biased, just went to my first steampunk convention, and it was a lot of fun.
Re: General Ideas!
They are the History/Time Retrograde (or Revisionist, depending on your translator) Army! They are an army of demonic weapons who want to change history to... make the future weaker or something? Their goals are very vague and make no sense!
They are human-ish but mainly non-human looking so shouldn't make folks squeamish about killing them!
They have vague goals and even vaguer motivations, making them easy to fit into a plot!
There's even an extra special force, The Kebiishi, who could appear in the final act to fight both the Retrograde Army -and- our heroes!

Specific Ideas!
Re: Specific Ideas!
And what I ended up thinking about was another "Fandom Island Goes Traveling" (maybe she needs to find herself again a la "How Fandom Got Her Groove Back?") semester, only instead of traveling just the world or even the universe, she travels different AUs/dimensions. And we relive the glory of BDEs past, though on a slightly diminished level.
There's the week we live in the AU where Fandom was part of the underwater city of Rapture, and the Fandom of Fallout 4, complete with radscorpions. And who can forget scenic Silent Hill Fandom, where Fosse has been replaced by Pyramid Head and you never, ever wanna go see the School Nurse(s)? And maybe there are a few new Fandoms to try, like the Fandom of A Quiet Place, where it's infested with aliens with super-hearing or the Fandom of the Ex-verse where there are zombies, or the Fandom of Future Past, with Sentinels patrolling looking for anyone who isn't baseline human, whether that's mutant, magic-user, alien, or anything else. (Of course, any trip to a canon with current players in game would be done only with permission of all players from that canon, omg).
I'm thinking rather than having a single BDE at the end of this, each month has a MDE (Middling Damn Event), where three weeks of the month are weird, but semi-normal and there's one week that's just...amped up a bit. We don't need to band together to defeat the Big Bad and turn everything back to normal or anything, but it's scarier. More dangerous. The kid gloves come off and we have to scramble to survive the week we're there. In deference to folks who have crazy schedules or not a lot of time to play, there won't be a Major Climactic Thing during these weeks, just everything is turned up to 11.
And the last place we visit before Fandom decides to go home, is Wishverse, once more populated by vampires. We could make that BDEish (maybe the vampires are interfering, making it so we can't leave?) or not, I just like the idea of a grand world tour revisiting some of our Greatest (Traumatic) Hits.
Re: Specific Ideas!
There'd have to be a LOT of organization before each week starts so that people who weren't here a bajillion years ago or who didn't visit all three realities like I obsessively did would know what to expect of Silent Hill or Rapture, but the payoff of a BDE revisited interspersed with a few weeks of just weird (a whole week of velveteen rabbit or tabula rasa!) could be fun.
Re: Specific Ideas!
And I'm loving the idea of realities where it's just one long Random Event to help fill out the intervening weeks, omg. ONE LONG SOAP OPERA WEEK or maybe one long week of, say, music themed events. A++ brilliant idea, 4 for you, Glen Coco.
Re: Specific Ideas!
How long were you thinking of having this run? There was the BDE where reality was tearing and people were thrust into their own personal AU selves that ran for quite some time, but I know some people were starting to feel AU fatigue and just wanted to get back to their own characters before the end of it, so you'd also probably want to take that into consideration when planning out the gap weeks to avoid burnout.
Re: Specific Ideas!
I was thinking that this would be a full semester (because why WOULDN'T we try to hold classes while outrunning splicers, I ask you), but individual AUs would only last the week the island was in that AU and wouldn't be mandatory. So, like, Jono could become his quasi-hollow AU self for the week of the Dark Souls AU, and then would revert back to regular Jono as soon as we left. He could then go on to be Big Daddy!Jono to Little Sister!Alluka 4 weeks later in Bioshock (also now I'm in love with this idea and want this fanfic) for the week if you were feeling up to it and maybe Kanan was himself all the way until we reached Monsterverse and he wandered too close to a rock or got attacked by a bunny. But while the whole trip would last 14 weeks, each individual AU would last no more than a week and no one would have to AU if they didn't feel like it.
Re: Specific Ideas!
But yeah, that sounds totally reasonable! Opt-in changes but knuckling down to survive the weeks where things are ugly, and then a throw-em-down to get out of whatever big finale reality is refusing to let them go?

Re: Specific Ideas!
OTOH, are you a true Fandomite if you don't go to sleep (especially on a Friday) more than a little concerned about waking up on Saturday?
Re: Specific Ideas!
*Where would we go?
An average semester/the summer is 14 weeks. We'd need 14 places to go, along with 3 (or two-plus-Wishverse) to be the capstone weeks. I have Wishverse, Silent Hill, Bioshock, Fallout 4, Monster-verse, Dark Souls, Saints Row aliens, and Dr. Who angels, but I know there are more out there that I'm forgetting.
*Does anyone wanna offer up their canons for awful places to visit?
*To up the drama factor, can islanders change when we show up somewhere?
Each of these places are different AUs, so could characters step into different AU roles (if they wanted to) with each arrival (like, arriving in Fallout world, they could suddenly become the ghoul version of themselves or the vampire version in Wishverse)? Should that be limited to capstone weeks only? Not at all? Is there room for slow transformations, like turning into a monster in Monster-verse?
*Anyone else have other suggestions or ideas?
