General Request for Plotting and Organization

Hey, everyone. It's that special time of year again.

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon1 power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Thank you so much for helping me out with this.

(And naturally, there will be threads, so please to be waiting for them and they are up.)

1 In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

2 For those of you who had characters around this summer and just want to C&P what you put in the post then, here is a shiny link. Why, yes, I did just C&P everything over.

Alec has piloting certifications for Cessna planes, B-52 bombers, BlackHawk helicopters, and F-16 Falcon fighter jets. And he can drive a motorcycle and a car if needed, though he has no license.

He has at least some basic thieving skills, involving lock picking and stealth.

There's also an ability to pick up most skills very quickly. Canonically, Alec learned how to play the piano at a master level within three days. Hah.

He's also lacking in most morals and ethics, knowledge of pop culture, and anything about what a healthy human relationship should be like, plus a healthy amount of very well buried PTSD from what amounts to torture during his formative years.

And there's the seizures, which come about as X5s are genetically unable to produce a healthy amount of serotonin due to a glitch in the DNA used to create them (in a normal world, serotonin doesn't actually give you seizures as far as I can tell, but it can be passed off as "X5s are weird that way"). They used to be fed a drug in order to keep them stable, but escaped X5s have found that a continued dose of tryptophan will help them get the serotonin they need to keep the seizures manageable or nearly nonexistant. Not exactly an ability, but hey, I AM BEING THOROUGH.

Evie can run away! Really fast!

Seriously, she's such a klutz, she ought to get training soon, but at the moment, the best she can do is run in the right direction, which is a valuable skill, since she has enough sense to actually do so.

Aeryn was born and bred military, so she's very well-versed in combat. She's physically fit, has kept up practicing in the gym, and has kind of had to suppress a normally-violent instinct here so she's more than happy to be able to go off on someone/something every once in a while. She's also ended up training quite a few people in the last year.

Oh, (go me and forgetting in-game stuff) in-fandom abilities are only some spying skills from Hikaru's end (Kaoru knows the same stuff, but he doesn't care as much) of things learned from a class he took last semester-which he would use..if there was a need, I guess.

Door's a quick study and reads a lot. She speaks Latin (which she describes as 'a bit patchy'), rat and pigeon canonically, plus the handful of animal languages taught in Mary Poppins' cross-species communcation class (some better than others).

She can do basic first aid (bandaging things up and such).

Thanks to some training by Aeryn & Cam, as well as the karate workshop last summer, Isabel has some very basic fighting skills.

Aeryn is Sebacean (alien, la) and while she doesn't have any real powers, she does have better senses than humans, like hearing and eyesight and all that. Also is stronger than most humans. Also has those funky little translator microbes that mean she can understand pretty much any language. She just can't automatically speak it or read it.

Re: Inherent Abilities

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Isabel is an alien/human hybrid. The canon explanation is that human DNA was mixed with her alien essence (Whatever the hell that is) to create her and the other aliens. Their powers are human though. Basically alien technology allowed their brains to be developed to their fullest potential. They're what humans would be like after a few more eons of evolution.

Isabel can manipulate things on molecular level. By that I mean heat them up, cool them down, change their color, change their taste (ketchup into mustard). She can remove stains from clothing.

She can start fires, basically small sparks that can ignite something.

She's telekinetic, able to move objects with her mind and if stressed enough, she can blow things up.

She can create a shield around herself and anyone nearby. It will block anything from reaching her/them.

She can make a CD play music without using a player.

And I think that's it for the moment.

Evie is completely bilingual in Arabic and English, and speaks, reads, and writes fluent French. She's studying hieratic, hieroglyphics, and Coptic Egyptian, and does fairly well in Greek, Latin and Hebrew--- but more reading/writing than speaking them. She's also familiar with archaeological practices and some of the lesser-known bedouin tribes of Egypt (circa 1912). Like many of the characters here, she runs on caffiene and adores books. Give her research and she's a happy girl.

She was in Flight Club last semester, and was a terrible, terrible pilot. But she wouldn't make a terrible co-pilot if you needed one. She's learning to drive this semester. Heh.

Hermione is really very used to being the sidekick. She'll head into trouble, but never gets to fight the actual bad guy. Therefore, support. She's competing for Research Queen, especially when it comes to magical stuff.

Emma was taught some self-defense from an ex-Interpol agent during a period in MarvelUniverse when all psis lost their powers.

Re: Psychics

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Isabel can get into people's dreams. The easiest way for her to do this is to fall asleep touching a picture of the person whose dream she wants to visit. But she can do it if she's awake, it just requires more concentration.

On a whole she can only get into someone's head if they're sleeping. However it is canon that she can get into the head of someone if they are disoriented due to drugs or injury.

She cannot change anything about normal dreams. She can only observe and essentially interact with the dreamer's subconscious. In Fandom she has manipulated things in dreams/hallucinations that were not natural. For example, going into John's head to deal with Umberto, or going into Parker's head during the mummy hallucination.

Matilda has telekinesis, she can lift something about as heavy as a truck, or anything lighter than that, obviously...

Re: Support Skills

[identity profile] tricksy-spy.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Aly organised and trained an intelligence service then used it to bring down a greatly feared and experienced spymaster and the monarchy in less than a year. ...I'm not sure what else I can say to add to that.

She's since acted as spymaster for the Copper Isles for six years. She's canonically good at languages and speaks several languages of her world plus Crow.

She also has tiny Immortal friends called darkings which are blots of blackness, quite intelligent and are able to listen and report to the darking she wears as a necklace (named Trick). In canon, Aly uses them as spies and communication devices. For FH, I try not to use them much, but they're certainly available and useful for a plot device if there's a way to make it logical.

Aeryn is a very good pilot, and enough people know about the Prowler she has in the junk yard that it's not worth counting it a secret anymore. Give her a spaceship and some time to work it out, and she can probably fly it. (Aeryn can fly in atmosphere, but don't count on her for it. Stick to space.)

*gives up on ever getting this down to one comment*

Door also has some skill at finding things, if they're hidden behind a lock, or a closed door, etc. It's just another function of the Opener gift.

Though she hasn't done it in canon, Door's grandfather built their house by tying together separate abandoned rooms all over London, with all of them linked together by photos and paintings in a central parlor, that only their family could access or use. Door's father had the ability to shut off the links between the rooms so that even his family couldn't get into his study while he was dictating. Presumably these are things that Door someday could do.

Re: Magic Abilities

[identity profile] tricksy-spy.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm putting this under magic and psychics cause I would classify as psychic-ness, but Tortall canon speaks of it as a type of magical Gift.

Aly can see immediately whether the person she looked at had magic or godhood (good or evil); whether the person was ill, pregnant, or lying. It also revealed the presence of poison in water or food. Her power makes it possible for her to clearly discern the tiniest of details, things invisible to the normal eye, or to see far into the distance.

Animals, yay. Jaye can probably do absolutely nothing to help in plots, except for the fact that the animals talk only to her and tell her when to meddle in someone else's business to further their own plot. Think of her as a walking plot device with a little wax lion.

Emma Frost is a transmorph capable of accessing both a human form with telepathic abilities honed to brutal precision, or an organic diamond form with enhanced strength and durability. Since her introduction, Frost has displayed the telepathic standards of broadcasting and receiving thoughts, mind control, altering perceptions and memories, astral projection, etc. She is highly skilled at creating electronic devices that amplify/block/engage psionic powers, as well as exploiting flaws in most electronic equipment.

Frost is also very adept at performing 'psychic surgery': the utilization of pin-pointed psionic energy to exert absolute control over individual brain functions such that the physical form can be manipulated (i.e., injuries healed, disabilities repaired, stimulation or retardation of growth and aging, etc). This is an unusual feat for even the most powerful of telepaths, but one that Frost is keen to utilize whenever the occasion suits her. She is a "Psi of High Order", and capable of defeating telepaths with much more raw power than herself.

Frost developed a secondary mutation: the ability to transform herself into a perfectly smooth, flexible, translucent diamond-like substance. Her abilities have been inconsistent in this form. Although initially only her skin turns into diamond, she was shattered by a diamond bullet, indicating that her entire body turns into organic diamond. Frost is virtually impervious to all forms of physical damage and can use her indestructible body to support incredible amounts of weight. She cannot access her telepathy in diamond form, nor can she be influenced by psis.

Throughout the years, it has been strongly hinted that Frost is also a latent telekinetic.
