General Request for Plotting and Organization

Hey, everyone. It's that special time of year again.

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon1 power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Thank you so much for helping me out with this.

(And naturally, there will be threads, so please to be waiting for them and they are up.)

1 In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

2 For those of you who had characters around this summer and just want to C&P what you put in the post then, here is a shiny link. Why, yes, I did just C&P everything over.

Lana's smart, good at organizing things (ran a coffee shop at the same time she was getting straight A's in school), and she's learned a small amount of martial arts. Not enough to be useful in any way at this point, but...

And, um, she's nice. And thoughtful and kind. High skill levels in all of those. ;)

Oh, and she has a taser.

In all honesty right now Neil's got nothing.

He's an ordinary confused teen from 1950s New England. He hasn't been around Fandom long enough to even pick up research support skills but hopefully that will change after a semester in Mr. Winchester's class.

Angela can see ghosts, or ghosts sometimes show themselves to her. Canon is not hugely sense-making on this, but in-game I've established that it's an inherited family trait and VERY occasionally extends to a general metaphysical sensitivity.

Parker doesn't qualify as psychic, but she's been dealing with nightmares, induced dreamscapes, possessions and bad hypnosis over and over throughout the last year, and is therefore pretty difficult to mentally mess with. She received basic training from Dream in how to control her nightmares, and automatically shuts out River using music whenever she needs to hide her thoughts. She has the genetic marker to be a Pretender, but never received training, and the gene is probably latent or unexpressed.

I'm afraid not to post in at least one of these, but, unfortunately, other than the weird twin-speak and being exceptional at being annoying, Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin have NO special abilities. At all.

Re: Anyone I Missed

[identity profile] x5-alec.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Alec has piloting certifications for Cessna planes, B-52 bombers, BlackHawk helicopters, and F-16 Falcon fighter jets. And he can drive a motorcycle and a car if needed, though he has no license.

He has at least some basic thieving skills, involving lock picking and stealth.

There's also an ability to pick up most skills very quickly. Canonically, Alec learned how to play the piano at a master level within three days. Hah.

He's also lacking in most morals and ethics, knowledge of pop culture, and anything about what a healthy human relationship should be like, plus a healthy amount of very well buried PTSD from what amounts to torture during his formative years.

And there's the seizures, which come about as X5s are genetically unable to produce a healthy amount of serotonin due to a glitch in the DNA used to create them (in a normal world, serotonin doesn't actually give you seizures as far as I can tell, but it can be passed off as "X5s are weird that way"). They used to be fed a drug in order to keep them stable, but escaped X5s have found that a continued dose of tryptophan will help them get the serotonin they need to keep the seizures manageable or nearly nonexistant. Not exactly an ability, but hey, I AM BEING THOROUGH.

Aeryn is a very good pilot, and enough people know about the Prowler she has in the junk yard that it's not worth counting it a secret anymore. Give her a spaceship and some time to work it out, and she can probably fly it. (Aeryn can fly in atmosphere, but don't count on her for it. Stick to space.)

Animals, yay. Jaye can probably do absolutely nothing to help in plots, except for the fact that the animals talk only to her and tell her when to meddle in someone else's business to further their own plot. Think of her as a walking plot device with a little wax lion.

Re: Anyone I Missed

[identity profile] ranma-sao.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Two random "oddities" Ranma has. First, he's got a deeply scarring fear of cats due to his father trying to teach him a special martial arts technique. The training worked in some ways but didn't in others. Ranma is now very scared of anything resembling a cat but when his fear of cats takes over he starts to act like a cat himself. He isn't in control of himself and doesn't remember what happened during it. While in cat form (he looks the same) he walks on all fours and makes cat noises and gestures. He's also extremely powerful. And out of control. He shreds things up with his "claws" and attacks anyone who bothers him. He will find someone's lap to sit in eventually and calm back down to himself. It’s a random power leading mostly just to odd situations.

Secondly he has a random curse on his hair. If someone was to take the tie off his braid it grows quickly. Really quick and a lot. It's something he's sensitive about but it's way more just bothersome than a power.

Sadly, Annette has nothing. She's a normal teen that was dealt a tragic blow and escaped from it. That is it.

Aside from being an over-achiever in school, she is friendly and easy to get along with. Did I mention she was friendly?

Yeah, that's it.

Summer doesn't have any special skills or abilities, but she is smart and organized. She'd probably be able to help out with research.

The skills I named about all get amplified when Tex is wearing her armour. Her strength is unmeasurable (in canon she lifts a tank with one hand) and her reaction time is 5 times that of a normal human. The armour has a shield over it and is denser than any metal we have right now. It will resist most bullets and sword attacks. It can take the impact from high falls and can give her life support in toxic enviroments and even works perfectly in deep sea water.

She's a Mary Sue, alright! Here (http://covenant-clan.co.uk/ForerunnerWeapons.htm)'s a link to what her armour does and her physical abilities.

Also, she can fix machines and knows how to track stuff. *handwaves* She's good.

Dean has also some knowledge and experience with making fake ids and credit card fraud.

As well as hustling at pool and poker.

He's some mechanical skill -- having built an EMF meter from an old walkman.

Rikku can hold her breath for around 10-15 minutes underwater. This is somehow a skill that certain people in her world learn, and not a magical ability, but I have no fucking idea how it works. Just that out of your seven playable characters, only three of them can do it. (It's not just the three of them: there's an entire sport in her world that takes place underwater.)

They don't really explain it, just - some people can hold their breath for 15 minutes, and those are the ones you use when exploring caves.

She's also got a knack for mechanical things, but that's really anticlimactic after the "apparently doesn't require oxygen and/or has gills" thing.

Just to establish this somewhere, as I haven't yet in game or other OOC posts, Steerpike is absolute crap at fighting. He has no experience in it, and very much prefers to have the upper hand in some other way (ie. hidden weapons, psyching the other person out, sneaking up behind them, surprise attacks, that sort of thing).

The one time he gets anywhere near hand to hand combat in canon, he, er, dies shortly thereafter. So, yeah. He sucks at fighting.

Weiss can build ships in bottles like a madman. This has rolled over to skilled lockpicking. He can probably pick a wide array of standard locks, but nothing incredibly fancy. Don't tell Parker.

Number 6 has a will that simply cannot be broken. He will die first.

Sam can pick locks, forge signatures for fake IDs and credit cards, and can probably come up with a fake name in about the same time as it would take him to recall his real one.

Chloe is a gadget geek, especially when it comes to spy equipment. She's got cameras, video recorders, data cards, password hacking devices, lockpicks, etc., and she's more than willing to use them if someone needs them.

She's also a very, very good victim. :)

Billy has a metal prosthetic leg that is more durable and stronger than a biological leg, that could concievably do quite a bit of damage.

Also, Leo knows chemistry.

Um yeah...I'm guessing "alien technology given powers" go here. Marco can touch an animal to absorb it's DNA and then "morph" into that animal for a limit of two hours. When in morph, Marco can use < thought speak > to "talk" to people. Through morphing, he can survive pretty much any near fatal injury. He also has the ability to keep talking even when it would have been better to shut up.

Dr. Venture has an uncanny knack for not dying.

As in, he's miraculously survived being in the arctic completely naked, being stuck at the ocean floor with water seeping into his diving robot suit, and having his arm ripped off and staunching the bloodflow by putting the stump into a Christmas tree stand.

Had a hard time figuring out where the heck to put Armony for this. Glad there's an "other" category. XD;

Armony is essentially a chimera made of her father's daughter, Selene, and an alchemical(which could be classified as magic, but is scientifically based) amplifier called the Philosopher's Catalyst. Selene, who Armony has only vague memories of(referring to her as her 'older sister', despite the fact that they are truly the same being), died in an accident involving alchemy and was then recreated fused with the Catalyst to become Armony.

She doesn't really have any special abilities, and in fact sucks royally at alchemy itself, but if practiced enough or involved in some sort of transmutation(which could be provided by either or both of the Elric brothers, as they are the only alchemists in FH I am aware of), she could... basically, explode. Alchemic reactions can(and will, after enough exposure) activate the powers of the catalyst and obliterate Armony. ...This was how she met her untimely end in the game canon, but I'm gonna try to keep her from blowing herself up in FH. ^^; She'll make an awful mess.

In addition to her weapon and unarmed skills, Honor has a prosthetic left arm and left eye. Because her shoulder was undamaged, the power of her left arm is limited to what her shoulder can bear, but is still very strong. Her left eye gives her the ability to zoom in and see things at high magnification.

Prosthetics, it appears, are Honor's friends. =)
