General Request for Plotting and Organization

Hey, everyone. It's that special time of year again.

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon1 power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Thank you so much for helping me out with this.

(And naturally, there will be threads, so please to be waiting for them and they are up.)

1 In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

2 For those of you who had characters around this summer and just want to C&P what you put in the post then, here is a shiny link. Why, yes, I did just C&P everything over.

Cally is a fairly talented mechanic and jury-rigger, and if given the plans for something not involving fiddly electronics, she can manage to build most things, given she has more tools than is possibly needed by a teenage girl ever.

Wade is apparently one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the Marvel Universe. Something that reeks of Gary Stu-Wolverineness if you ask me, but whatever.

Xander comes from a universe where magic works, and he can do spells that any schmoe with the proper recipe book and spicerack can do, but he's got no inherent magical ability of his own, and no special talent for doing the recipe-style stuff.

Tori is a trained ninja, who practiced martial arts and specializes in hand-to-hand combat.

I wasn't sure if this should go under magic, so I put it here. Tori posseses several superpowers independent of her Ranger skills (and in fact, possessed before she became a Wind Power Ranger). She possesses superhuman speed and can move faster than the eye can see, leap higher than an average person, evade detection by normal persons and focus her inner energies to resist mental attacks and manipulation.

Her training based on her affinity for water allows her to move across water as if it were solid ground, create high-powered bursts of water as an offensive weapon, and manipulate and control water for a number of effects (such as creating objects).

Buffy has the typical powers of a slayer which include increased strength, speed, agility and reflexes. The slayer is highly resistant to damage and typically heals completely within 24 hours

The slayer also has inherent fighting skills, but she needs to train regularly to reach her ultimate potential.

[identity profile] water-wonder.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Tori was always the one out of her two friends to possess the skill for reasoning out solutions without need for fighting, as well as figuring out how to end conflicts without further violence.

She can think critically as well, and was the logical and sensible ninja in her group of friends.

I hope this is okay here.

Two random "oddities" Ranma has. First, he's got a deeply scarring fear of cats due to his father trying to teach him a special martial arts technique. The training worked in some ways but didn't in others. Ranma is now very scared of anything resembling a cat but when his fear of cats takes over he starts to act like a cat himself. He isn't in control of himself and doesn't remember what happened during it. While in cat form (he looks the same) he walks on all fours and makes cat noises and gestures. He's also extremely powerful. And out of control. He shreds things up with his "claws" and attacks anyone who bothers him. He will find someone's lap to sit in eventually and calm back down to himself. It’s a random power leading mostly just to odd situations.

Secondly he has a random curse on his hair. If someone was to take the tie off his braid it grows quickly. Really quick and a lot. It's something he's sensitive about but it's way more just bothersome than a power.

When hit with cold water Ranma turns into a girl. Not very useful except in sex appeal.

Piper is a witch. She can cast pretty much any spell and she makes potions. She also has the power of molecular manipulation, meaning she can slow molecules down (freeze) or speed them up (blowing stuff up).

Wade is in possession of Wolverine's legendary healing ability. He was an experiment subject in Weapon X where they attempted to transplant DNA from Wolverine into normal non-mutants. Luckily, or unluckily depending on how you look at it, the transplant worked on Wade... after some time. Stricken with cancer before the experiment, when it finally took affect, it merged with his cancer, leaving him scarred all over his body, and in a constant state of healing.

Later, his healing ability would turn out to have a mental aspect to it, allowing him to heal to the point where he remembers himself looking. (See Agent X for more details!)

In Tori's career as a ranger, she was proficient in fighting with a ninja sword.

So, it's safe to say that if it's needed, Tori can handle swords, but she tends to not use weapons, unless absolutely necessary.

Sadly, Annette has nothing. She's a normal teen that was dealt a tragic blow and escaped from it. That is it.

Aside from being an over-achiever in school, she is friendly and easy to get along with. Did I mention she was friendly?

Yeah, that's it.

[identity profile] ranma-sao.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Ranma is a master of martial arts. He has his own style so it's hard to say exactly what it's like. He has tremendous balance, enough to walk of fences, hang onto tree branches on ledges with only his feet and ankles. He can take a lot of hits before going down. He could probably lift a car at maximum. He doesn't usually use it because he's way too worried about hurting people.

Re: Inherent Abilities

[identity profile] southernbender.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara is a waterbender - one who can control and manipulate all forms of water. She's been named a waterbending master, but what exactly that means beyond a title of respect is unclear.

She can not create water though she can pull moisture out of the air or ground for use. She is also able to heal through the use of water though the extent of that power isn't known. She has healed burns and partially healed brainwashing at this point in canon. The indication seems to be that a greater degree of healing can be achieved, but Katara is not yet at that level.

She can manipulate water for a variety of purposes from collecting it into a small hovering ball to lashing out with it as a whip against a person or to cut a rope, fabric, or even cut metal. She can make waves, pull water to her, create and manipulate ice, create small waterspouts, trap people in ice if she has enough water at her disposal.

Kaylee is a very good mechanic even though she has had no formal training. She understands most machinery and can fix just about anything mechanical.

Cassie, thanks to her exposure to Pym Particles, has the ability grow to great heights, and increase her mass. This extra mass fortifies all of her cellular tissue, including her bones and muscles, enabling her to support her increased weight and giving her superhuman strength.

She also can go the other way, shrinking down, with a lower limit approximately the size of one-half inch. Like her father, she retains her normal human strength at this size.

Anders - has a passing familiarity with firearms, and good hand-eye coordination that translates to pretty good aim with them. I strongly doubt, at this point in his life, that he's going to be comfortable using them against anything with a human face, though. He's also picked up some yo-yo skills that might be able to translate to goofy fighting abilities at some point.

Conner - Largely instinctive proficiency with a saber-like sword and with a fighting staff, as well as with an energy blaster gun. He doesn't have the gun any more though, woe. Regular projectile firearms make him very nervous and he won't handle them if he can help it at all.

Sakura - She's a combat special-ops veteran, so she has a high level of trained proficiency with any kind of modern, standard Earth firearm, grenades, or anything you'd expect of someone with that background. She also has some skill with a sword.

Yitzhak - Um . . . can probably swing a microphone stand pretty well.

Rikku knows four elemental spells: Fire, Ice, Water and Lightning.

They can be used offensively, but they're kind of weak. Less damage than punching someone. They're more suited to situations where you'd need that particular element for some reason.

In her canon, anyone can learn basic magic, so she could teach someone else Fire, Ice, Water and/or Lightning if they were so inclined.

Re: Fighting

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Anders - Hand-to-hand, the extent of his skill is a good, hard tackle. He has learned some very rudimentary sparring moves, but he's not comfortable enough with them to use them. He fights the way he'd play defense on the Pyramid court -- tackles, throwing elbows, etc.

Conner - Excellent martial arts skills, though he has little formal training. It's all instinctive, thanks to the knowledge given to him when he got his Ranger powers.

Sakura - Extensive, trained hand-to-hand skills.

Yitzhak - Mosh-pit brawler who fights dirty, like you'd expect of someone who's small and scrawny but ends up in a lot of fights.

[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Teddy is a half Skrull and half Kree. What does that mean?

Skrulls are shape-shifters. They can turn into almost anything they want, from people to animals to objects. When injured, their bodies instinctively shift organs, veins, anything that would take heavy damage away from the injury site just before it happens or while it is happening.

Kree are super strong. (Not as cool as the Skrulls, I know.)

Teddy has both of these abilities, BUT he doesn't have the full strength of any of them.

Cassie has taken a lot of self defense, cause she used to get kidnapped a lot (but not, like Dawn-level a lot).

She uses this training as offensively as possible, which isn't so great.

She mainly relies on the 'lookit me, I'm 30 feet tall and can squish you' aspect of her powers detailed below.

[identity profile] guitar-and-gun.livejournal.com 2007-01-12 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
El is an impossibly good gunfighter. And I do mean impossible. He frequently pulls off shots that say "Physics? We don't need your stinkin' physics!", including my favorite move where sort of slings the guns to shoot bullets around corners.

Practically, El is proficient, familiar, and has great expertise with an extremely wide variety of earth firearms, and is an extremely quick study with guns he has not previously encountered. He is also capable of dual wielding guns, including two different guns of different types. His personal weapons of choice are a pistol grip sawed off shotgun and a pair of Desert Eagles.

He also has some experience with throwing and cutting knives, although not as much as his gun expertise.

He has a guitar case packed to the brim with various guns and weapons, including a row of throwing knives, grenades, and attachments, such as silences, scopes, and laser sights.

He also generally has the Desert Eagles stored up his sleeves.

Conner - Super-speed. (One of these days I'll decide on a standard: to hyphenate or not to hyphenate.) Not a genetic mutation, per se, but it is bonded to his DNA. It's really fast; he can dash up three flights of stairs in about two seconds.

I expect this is hell on his shoes.
