Calling all drama queens (and kings, can't forget them)!

Okay, the genderswappy is over, which means I get to give you something new to look forward to. Well, technically, two somethings.

See, homecoming weekend is going to be October 10. That's one thing. Unfortunately for the people of Fandom, that means October 11-12 will also be Soap Opera Weekend.

Now I know you all know how soap operas work, even if you don't watch them. The name of the game is Crack. (Its middle name is totally Danger.) Thanks to a little TV mishap, if you so choose, your characters will wake up on Saturday morning technically still themselves, but soap operaed up. For instance, Brooke will still know herself as Brooke, but if I decide she's going to be a drug-addicted supermodel who was adopted by the richest family like ever ala Emily Quartermaine on General Hospital, for the weekend that's all true. If I decide Lily's going to be sekritly married to three other guys on the island that she wasn't to yesterday, that can also be true. (She won't be, don't worry, Marshall.) They'll all think the changes are perfectly normal.

And since this is on homecoming weekend when everyone's around anyway, this plot is open to everyone, and it gives the opportunity for alumni to be affected while in Fandom. Just like the good ol' days!

The Rules Guidelines:

-Okay, this one's a rule. DO NOT decide anything for someone else's character without their permission. If Lily was going to be married to three guys, I'd have to get the okay from all those people. Be as cracky as you want, but keep those lines of communication open.

-You also have the chance to do things you wouldn't ordinarily be able to do in regular gameplay without a plot proposal. Which means if I wanted Buffy to be randomly pregnant and not know which of two guys is the father, or if I want Jaina killed in a horrible roof accident, I could do it. It just won't be permanent. On Monday, they'll wake up alive and well and completely normal. (I would appreciate if you drop a line to let the admins/me know if you want to kill someone in a mob war or be murdered or something, since that that's something that could get big and affect more than your run of the mill death would. If you have any doubts about whether you can or should do something, ask.)

-This is so totally not a rule, but I highly encourage y'all to mix it up. If you're thinking of being someone's long-lost evil twin, why not have it be to a character you haven't played with before rather than someone you see every day? For those of you wanting to expand your circles, this could be a really good opportunity to do so.

-Don't worry if someone else is using the same schtick. Soap operas aren't exactly original. In fact, if there aren't eight Alexis/Krystle-style catfights that end up in the lake, I'm going to be REALLY REALLY upset.

That's the basics. I'm also throwing down a comment below for brainstorming, should anyone have something they WANT to see that weekend that they don't automatically claim for themselves, or you want to find someone to be your new husband/wife/suspected babyparent/evil twin/supposedly-dead parent/Kelly to your Brenda.

Whee!

I was such a confused child. I grew up on GH and DOOL. Depending on when I was sick, which family member I was staying with, or which school I was going to.

Omg, DOOL. MARLENA AS THE DEVIL. That storyline will forever stick with me.

After my time, though I was kind of aware of it from ads and magazine covers and such. I was an addict back in the "OMG Roman's dead - no wait he's back but he looks different - wait what that's NOT Roman and now there's two of them????" days. And the whole "who is this guy with the patch" Steve/Kayla romance.

OMG! Patch/Kayla was awesome.

Did they ever resolve what happened to his body? I vaguely remember the coffin being grabbed after the funeral.

And how many Roman's have there been? And has Marlena slept with all of them?

I... think he wasn't dead and came back? (Steve, I mean.) But that was after my time so my knowledge of it was limited to "Ooh, Steve's alive again? Yay."

Ooooh. My mom was all about the ABC soaps, though I had later soap experimentations with DOOL and ATWT.

And let's not forget the stuff like 90210, Dynasty, Swans Crossing...

I remember when AmTam was sweet, young, adorable Emily Quartermaine.

But I was more of an AMC girl.

Me toooooooooooooooooo

And you do know that SMG played Kendall (Erica Kane's daughter) for a while, right? :D

I REMEMBER THAT. Omg, that was WAAAAAAAAY BACK. Baby!SMG!

Re: OOC

[identity profile] iruinenglish.livejournal.com 2008-09-26 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Back when SMG was like 17, 18 playing 24 because Susan Lucci insisted Erica would have been 14 when she had Kendall and everyone went "UM WE KNOW YOU AREN'T 32, WE NEED TO AGE YOUR DAUGHTER UP."

Uh huh! *g* Between AMC and Swan's Crossing, I think Buffy needs to get some trauma that weekend... (Or will have some very dramatic AU weekend antics.)

I was over on CBS. With Cricket/Christine, aka Lauralee Bell, the fucking Tori Spelling of daytime TV.

... Victor Newman, I don't care how old that man gets, I'd hit that.

I was a huge fan of the ABC soaps, especially General Hospital. I remember when it was still good. I miss those days.
