SOAP OPERA WEEKEND!!

TIME!!!!!

That's right, boys and girls, next Friday, February 7, there's going to be an alumni event so that everyone can be on island as they wish. Then from February 8-9 it's full-on crack. YAY.

For those of you who weren't around for previous years, Soap Opera weekend is exactly what it sounds like. Much like AU weekend and such, for a weekend, the denizens of Fandom go through some changes... Namely, while your characters are still themselves, they behave like characters on a soap opera and think this is totally normal. For instance, Jaina Solo will still know herself as Jaina Solo, she just may be the conniving heiress to the Skywalker diamond mine fortune who's had two ruined weddings now and one stolen baby.

Monday morning, everyone will wake up themselves, and probably wtf a lot. Alumni will also get to hang around on Monday, as while they're spending the weekend lying to someone about whose baby they're carrying or going around getting amnesia, they're probably not thinking much about catching a portal home.

That's the basics. I'm also throwing down a comment below for brainstorming, should anyone have something they WANT to see that weekend that they don't automatically claim for themselves, or you want to find someone to be your new husband/wife/suspected babyparent/evil twin/supposedly-dead parent/Kelly to your Brenda.

Oh my god where did this week go. Anyway, since I don't know where this week went and maybe not all of you do either, here's your friendly reminder that this weekend is the best of all weekends, Soap Opera Weekend!

There'll be an event going up a little later for students, teachers, townies and alumni, and then tomorrow everyone'll wake up cracked out and dramatic, which is how we like it. And remember, there's a brainstorming post for you to knock out some ideas/brag about what you're doing.

The event's going to be open to everyone, students, teachers, townies and alumni on island. So just like usual there'll be an event Friday, November 2, and then on Saturday you can have your kid wake up as an amnesia victim. Or a crack whore. Or an evil twin of someone who doesn't look anything like them. Basically let the crack flow freely.

Every time we've done Soap Opera Weekend in the past, it ended with me going "Well, we're just not going to top that one," and then I turn out to be wrong. And I don't know what the hell happened to you all this year, but somehow the weekend so far exceeded my expectations of crackiness. Thank you so much to everyone who participated and I'm so sorry to anyone who missed out. It was so much fun, I was pretty much dying laughing all weekend, and I love and fear you and your brains.

This is just your friendly reminder that this weekend is Soap Opera Weekend! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! Alumni event on Friday, followed by two days of total and utter crack. Because that's the way we roll here.

If you're still trying to think up things to do, I will show you back towards the brainstorming post, where you can set up relationships or plots, plot out your copious speakeasies, or just talk about how superior the Skywalkers are to the Winchesters and the Starks. BECAUSE THEY ARE.

That's right, boys and girls! September 10-11 we are going to revisit the wonderful crack that comes out when your characters stop being polite, and start getting real. Or something. There'll be an alumni event on Friday, September 9 so alumni, students, teachers and townies can all be involved. Then on Saturday morning, you have the option of making them wake up as a soap opera character.

Shhhh better late than never omg.

This is just a reminder that Soap Opera weekend starts Saturday and ends upon wakeup Monday morning. I'm sure by now you've got some ideas of what you want to do, and maybe you're all set to go. Or maybe you have vague ideas and need someone to help you out with part of it but haven't gotten around to asking anyone/aren't sure how to approach someone you don't ordinarily play with. Or maybe you have absolutely no ideas and I've just made you flail with a reminder that it's tomorrow. Sorry!

So this is your post to ask for help, or maybe just to throw out ideas that you've had but have no use for this year. Like if say you were home sick this week and cribbing ideas from the soap operas you watched because the hotass Aussie is back on ATWT and don't judge me.

WELL HELLO THERE BOYS AND GIRLS. Did you think we weren't having a Soap Opera Weekend this year? Didya? Cuz guess what?

December 5-6 is Soap Opera Weekend. So there.

For those of you who weren't around last year. Soap Opera weekend is exactly what it sounds like. Much like AU weekend and such, for a weekend, the denizens of Fandom go through some changes... Jaina Solo will still know herself as Jaina Solo, she just may be the heiress to the Skywalker diamond mine fortune who goes around stealing her double's identity and escaping ruined weddings on horseback after catfights in the pond. (Also for those of you who weren't here last year, THIS TOTALLY HAPPENED. SOW is crack.) Monday morning, everyone will wake up themselves, and probably wtf a lot.

This plot will be open to all characters on island, including alumni. Yes, alumni, there will be an opportunity to be around for this, and there'll be more details on that as the date nears. We didn't forget you!

As Soap Opera Weekend draws to a close, I want to thank ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE for ruling and just defying all expectations, you cracky cracked out people you. And I worry for everyone's brains because WOW.

As of wakeup on Monday morning (or afternoon, I don't judge), everyone will be completely healthy (unless they weren't), unpregnant (unless they already were), and back to their normal selves. And they'll have full memory of everything that happened.

Two reminders!
1. Alumni are allowed on the island until Monday evening. You can have your ramifications, but you have to be gone by then.
2. It's fall break, therefore no classes! Meaning everyone who wants to just hide under their bed all day has less reason not to.

I should totally be sleeping, but! You know how at BDE's posts go up all "If you need a monster, ping here and someone'll grab you" (not dirty)? This post serves the same purpose.

It occurs to me that a lot of things might be happening/needed on the fly, or that you might not know all the details of what everyone else is doing to know yet if you have everything you need. Therefore, this is where you ping if you're going to commit a crime and want a real or fake cop to come arrest you, or you need someone to talk you into becoming a stripper after hooking you on drugs like you're Karen Wexler (but then you kick it to hook up with guys named Jagger and eventually become a doctor but you get taken hostage by a mad bomber your first day and have to "dance" to #1 Crush in front of your new coworkers as a diversion because you're self-sacrificing like that) because it works with a plot or dammit, it just sounded good to add in.

...I may be doing a lot of that, really.

So, just in case anyone needs it.

Ahem. Because of the utter crackiness that should be SOW, your alumni characters will be allowed to stay on the island till Monday evening, October 13. Because there is aftermath, and also, because it's hard to get to class/work on Monday when you spent the whole weekend chasing after the world's largest diamond or something. Oh old skool GH. *hugs you*

Okay, the genderswappy is over, which means I get to give you something new to look forward to. Well, technically, two somethings.

See, homecoming weekend is going to be October 10. That's one thing. Unfortunately for the people of Fandom, that means October 11-12 will also be Soap Opera Weekend.

Now I know you all know how soap operas work, even if you don't watch them. The name of the game is Crack. (Its middle name is totally Danger.) Thanks to a little TV mishap, if you so choose, your characters will wake up on Saturday morning technically still themselves, but soap operaed up. For instance, Brooke will still know herself as Brooke, but if I decide she's going to be a drug-addicted supermodel who was adopted by the richest family like ever ala Emily Quartermaine on General Hospital, for the weekend that's all true. If I decide Lily's going to be sekritly married to three other guys on the island that she wasn't to yesterday, that can also be true. (She won't be, don't worry, Marshall.) They'll all think the changes are perfectly normal.

And since this is on homecoming weekend when everyone's around anyway, this plot is open to everyone, and it gives the opportunity for alumni to be affected while in Fandom. Just like the good ol' days!
