Brainstorming Post!

Apologies, apologies, apologies! We've totally flaked on this for the past couple of months. I won't speak for [livejournal.com profile] willbedone as far as inviting punishment, but you can make indignant noises in my direction for it if you like. *shameface*

Anyway, this is the monthly brainstorming post, and I hope this means you guys have a ton of stuff to throw into the mix today, so have at it, in the appropriate OCD thread! And they are up, so go go go!

As always, I throw Joan in here. For those of you who are new or who may have forgotten, Joan gets random assignments from God on a fairly frequent basis. They generally seem to have no rhyme or reason but always end up with some kind of positive outcome. [See: Jan's (http://joan-notjane.livejournal.com/5498.html) Exit (http://firebringerborn.livejournal.com/6671.html) Plot (http://firebringerborn.livejournal.com/7203.html)]

So, if you need something to happen and aren't sure how to make it happen, Joan could probably help.

My three offerings for plot parts are as follows:

If you need someone finding out a secret from a characters/items/whatever's past, I offer Liir to accidentally discover it. I also don't mind having him get in trouble for that; all what you'd need him to do. He's also good for catering as well as aerial surveillance. Ooh! Or Random Magical Accidents. He's good at those too.

If you need someone frozen in time or space, or some forensic work done, Abigail Irene is there to help you out. Need to keep someone who's sick or injured from getting worse, she's your woman. I could also say 'solving murders' but I seriously doubt that'll happen around here too much.

Need a connection severed, something cut, or care to have your character make a deal with the Devil and Fiona is your girl. She herself can see the threads that bind things together (anything from an emotional tie to an addiction) and is able to cut them easily enough; it'll take some convincing, though, since her own experience was unpleasant. Yours wouldn't be--totally different circumstances. She can cut anything. Also, her father is Lucifer so if you wanted to do a plot and have him show up for some reason, she could give him a call. No really.

I kind of want Brennan and Abigail Irene to team up to solve one of those murders that would never happen here.

Maybe a body could wash up on the beach?

ALSO!

Fiona's good for translation work as well as ridiculously obscure knowledge that is entirely fact-based: ie, if you need to know about a rare blood disease or a creature that's been extinct for 3000 years and only lived in the Milwaukee region, *points at her*

Just no fiction, lit references, myth, religion, etc.

Shilo's baldness. HELP ME. It's well-established in canon and I cannot for the life of me figure out a way of it being brought up here short of someone going "OH HAI IMMA TUG ON SHILO'S HAIR OH GOD IT CAME OFF."

The only idea is that she takes her hair off during a game of Hats in drama class or for some reason in Superhero Fashion. IDK.

Just going off the top of my head here, but would she take it off to sleep or shower? Could it get knocked askew by one of her cabinmates' pets?

We got Penelope to take her scarf off by having her roommate get annoyed and just tug at the thing, but hair is much less obvious.

She's been keeping it on when she sleeps and hasn't taken it off until she's safely hidden in the shower. I could see it falling off in the night though, so I might go with that. Thanks. :)

Wrong account, but Gabrielle is a certified klutz who could probably manage to knock it off at some point. ;)

LOL. Thanks for the offer. I might take it up in drama class.

Alice is one of Shilo's cabinmates, and she has a cat. If you want to go the mishap-with-a-pet route, I could help with that?

I am PMing you with a thought on this theme. EVERYONE IS AWESOME, BTW.

If there's anything dead (person or thing) that needs to be brought back to life for whatever reason, Ned's your man. One person knows he can do things like that but if you need him, we can talk. Just make sure you know the ramifications of his unique talent (he brings something back, something else of comparable value has to die etc etc) beforehand.

Re: Plot Spare Parts

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-05-13 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, wow. Would you be willing to play with this idea even if the person in question stays dead? More someone struggling with the idea of bringing someone back, and realizing they don't have the right to do that?

First of all, I am so sorry it took me so long to reply here. My second job blocks this particular comm because it has the word LOTTERY in it. I KNOW. It sucks.

Second of all, yes, I'd love to hear what you have in mind and to see if we could work it around Ned's talent. He's not particularly happy about using his power but he would or I'd make him because, canonically, he does come around to accepting it and I need to move in that direction as his time on the island comes to a close.

So, yes, definitely! Just let me know!

[livejournal.com profile] spring_lost and [livejournal.com profile] endsthegame are always at anyone's disposal if you need someone to manipulate a situation down to your needs (Cable) or a character into doing something that's good for them (Ender).

Posting this from totally the wrong account. But, hey, I suppose you could list 'Arthur is Pure of Heart and likes beating the shit out of things for justice' as a plot spare part... if a common one. (Although, if anyone has anything Arthurian-legendish in their canon they want to poke at, I'm open for talking)

I'd like to offer up Diana's skills here. Her powers are random and are very good if you need something silly or serious to play with.

In addition, if there is a fight on the island, for her there will be a "hole" in the world that she would need to patch up and I would love to play with that.
bitten_notshy: (considering this)

Re: Plot Spare Parts

[personal profile] bitten_notshy 2009-05-13 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
This is just me being curious, but what happens if she does patch the hole? Is it like the fight never happened (e.g., character relationships go back to what they were before the fight), or does it just keep things from getting worse for her to sew things back up?

Re: Plot Spare Parts

[identity profile] oops-mbad.livejournal.com 2009-05-13 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Not at all! It just keeps things from getting worse. If she doesn't close it up, bad energy will continue to seep in, causing more fights. (Which actually is also fun to play with.) But if she does patch it up, it stops spewing.

Re: Plot Spare Parts

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-05-13 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
All of my spare bits seem obvious -- Alice's insanity, Lizzy's diplomacy, and Alex's lawyer-fu -- except for the fact that Max really is the President, in his universe, and Sam and Max really do abuse it in canon for embezzling funds and issuing pardons and things like that. So if you need to abuse their services, hit up Noah or myself OOC.

Also, Alex is presumed dead and in the witness protection program, but a few people know she's alive, and she has friends in high places, so if you need some strings pulled to save yourself from legal issues, she's your girl.

Oooh. I may have to keep Alex in mind for the future. Not for this tiny blonde with issues, for the other one, but yes.
