So with all the cops we have on the island plus a few that might be show up pending application approval, I'm thinking we need a good old fashioned mystery to solve on the island. Once upon a time I toyed with the idea of an open mystery where anyone on the island could participate and solve though the logistics of it would kill my brain.

Ooooh what if we go with some kind of ancient mystery of the island? Something that ties in with the mythology/history that's already been established.

Maybe some of the wolf-types could find bones in the preserve and that pulls in Brennan and the other cop types to try to solve the mystery of what happened.

Maybe they find the bodies of all the characters who pinged once or twice into the game and then disappeared. :)

*laughs*

There were certainly enough of them back in the olden days.

You'd think I'd learn not to drink and read at the same time...

I remember something like that happening way, way early in the game. A mystery would definitely be fun to play out. We'd need a guilty person though.

ETA: The gremlins hid them?

LOL

And that could tie into the gremlin civil war!

I actually just got to read that thread after I posted this and lol'd.

And I think you're right about an investigation into missing persons happening way early on. IIRC it was the L&O guys (RIP Jerry Orbach) and they focused on Wash for some reason.

Yeah, it was definitely the L&O guys, and I remember it was a long name starting with a W so it might have been Wash? (His full last name is long.)

You do recall that one of the people who went missing early on was Joan, right? :)

This is where I'm going to note that [livejournal.com profile] heromaniac had a seriously kickass idea for a plot like this, bringing in an actual criminal for the police to hunt down, and I'm going to drag her kicking and screaming to the thread to share >.>
heromaniac: (battle)

*is dragged* Well, it is pretty similar, actually! Inspired by the Dillinger movie being released soon, I thought maybe we needed a bank robber/ serial criminal in Fandom.

I don't know if it's possible, but it would be a short term guest character who would be basically a townie or a teacher and they'd rob places and people over a period of time while they interact with people as if they were a normal citizen. The cops would be trying to find him and some of the students, too, most likely. Then if he was arrested there'd be a trial, or he could get away or escape (which could happen in a small town with little real crime) or gets killed (which happens a lot to bad things in Fandom).

I have no idea if she remembers it, but [livejournal.com profile] notyourpawn and I spent some time a while back (as in like, a year, possibly two ago) discussing the possibility of a Carmen Sandiego-style adventure where a building/piece of island geography went missing and people had to solve puzzles to track it down. I still think this would be fun!

I concur!
