General Request for Plotting and Organization

Hey, everyone. It's that special time of year again.

In an effort to keep things a little more organized for plottishness and so on, we're going to ask a quick favor of you all.

Could you please reply to each appropriate comment below, and let us know what kind of powers/abilities/etc your character possesses? This is for all characters - students/alumni, teachers and townies - and covers everything including especially good researching/support skills, magic, skill with weaponry, mutations and so on. This is mandatory for all characters, and we would appreciate it ASAP though there is no specific deadline.

Anything that is a canon1 power or ability of your character and could be used in a plot in some way, please list below in the correct thread. Temporary powers for specific plots do not need to be noted now.

Thank you so much for helping me out with this.

(And naturally, there will be threads, so please to be waiting for them and they are up.)

1 In this instance, "canon" does refer to FH canon as well. If your character at this time has honed their fighting skills or anything like that, please do make sure to note that. For guidelines on characters picking up abilities, please see this post.

2 For those of you who had characters around this summer and just want to C&P what you put in the post then, here is a shiny link. Why, yes, I did just C&P everything over.

She's also fairly strong -- capable of sending people flying across the room.

In addition to her weapon and unarmed skills, Honor has a prosthetic left arm and left eye. Because her shoulder was undamaged, the power of her left arm is limited to what her shoulder can bear, but is still very strong. Her left eye gives her the ability to zoom in and see things at high magnification.

Prosthetics, it appears, are Honor's friends. =)

Go-go Gadget Control-V!

Alphonse has had at least six years of training under a teacher in some weird mix of martial arts. I'd say it's some fancy version of karate or something like that (not an expert here). Aaaanyway, he's pretty damn good at it, and quick on his feet, too. But, he's just as normal as humans get, so he more than likely couldn't beat up anything with abnormally great strength.

*abuses copy+paste some more*

Alphonse is also really superduper good with alchemy. Basically physically and/or chemically changing an object so long as it follows scientific principles blahblahblah. It does have its limitations, and can be physically exhausting, but that'd only be a problem if he was doing a few huge transmutations a lot at once, or if he's already injured/physically exhausted to begin with. Also, just 'cause it's been asked before, yes, he does need transmutation circles still. Normally he carries around a pair of gloves with an array sewn/painted/printed/whatever you want to think on the palm of them both, but if those aren't availilble drawing an array also works.

Xander's the consummate sidekick. He's a lieutenant-type: he's very good at following orders (but won't hesitate to question them if they sound like they were conceived while smoking of the good crack), but also has a lot of experience leading a smaller group/team on specific assignments. Professionally, he's been a construction crew leader; Slayer-wise, he gave fighting tips and pep-talks to potential Slayers in canon, and post-canon has been recruiting new Slayers for the Watchers' Council for three years.

He's got a lot of experience with research on spells and demons, though it's not his favorite activity and he's not a genius at it. He also knows how to use the internet at about the level of your average fangeek, thanks to FH, and is a pretty big lint-trap for useless pop culture information, especially fantasy/SF/comic-books.

He canonically at least recognizes Latin well enough to read it aloud, though it's questionable as to whether he'd know what he's reading most of the time without a dictionary in front of him. At FH he also took Dream's Creature Languages class and can thus speak/recognize a smattering of each of the ones taught in it, though he paid the most attention to Rat. In canon, he speaks Klingon; in FHmetaverse, he speaks Tev'Meckian, from Galaxy Quest.

Xander's also an expert carpenter/construction worker, and can build or repair things and structures damaged during a fight, make practice dummies, impromptu weapons, storage-cases, etc. He's proficient with hand and power tools as well as large-scale construction equipment, and can read and interpret blueprints/building plans.

Haruhi's got mad school studying skills and is very gender-ambiguous.

And, um... I think that's it. She's in the "as normal and average as they get" club.

Since Heroes canon hasn't seen fit to make it 100% clear if Peter's powers are mutation, inherent, and/or some form of other:

Peter can copy the power of any power-inclined person he happens to be near. Touching them helps with the pickup but it is not required.

As far as canon's shown it looks like the power's strongest when he's right next to the person and that it gradually fades over time rather than disappearing entirely once there's distance (e.g. when he drew prophetic stick figures long after he'd been with Isaac).

For FH purposes I've been extrapolating that he can't repete gods, angels/devils, or things that are a matter of species (e.g. he couldn't gameface if he was next to a vamp).

Thank you so, SO much for the link to the previous one.

Re: Psychics

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Peter's had prophetic dreams in canon, but so far we don't know if he has full-on prophetic skills like Sam Winchester, or if Peter only sees his own future. So until canon shows otherwise, I'd say Peter can only have prophecy dreams that somehow involve himself, but that doesn't mean he can't have dreams about himself and other people.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Like any Buffyverse character, Angel can do whatever spell can be done by anybody who recites the words and puts the correct ingredients together.

Re: Weaponry

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Angel's favorite weapons are swords and stakes, but he's also comfortable using whatever comes to hand. Quite literally as he's been known to make weapons when none are around (such as using a crutch to break another vamp's bones). He can also use crossbows and guns, but it's not his preference.

Re: Fighting

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Angel's very skilled in various disciplines of martial arts. As kicking ass requires no talking, this is one of his favorite things to do.

Re: Inherent Abilities

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Being a vamp means that Angel has super speed (move too fast to see), super strength (can break concrete walls by punching through them), super hearing (can hear clearly through doors and walls), super sense of smell (can track someone by scent, can recognize if someone's had sex in the past few days and who it was with), and excellent night vision. He can jump very high (at least a floor or two) and survive falls off of skyscrapers. All of these powers are stronger when he's in game face but canon's never specified how much. (aka "Speed of the plot")

He's room temperature, doesn't need to breathe, and has no heartbeat, all of which makes him immune to a lot of anti-theft devices, as well as any situation that would require going underwater, going into a room filled with poisonous gas, etc.

He can be hurt by a taser, but powerful bolts of electricity can go through him without doing him any damage. Because my canon MAKES NO SENSE

He's got intermittent photographic memory, which canon suggests he can use if he puts his mind to it but it's not an automatic thing.

He can take a lot of damage and survive so long as it's not cutting off his head or putting a wooden stake through his heart. He's got speeded up healing which again works at the speed of the plot.

His mind can't be read via telepathy or similar means, though Lorne could read his aura and make some predictions about his future or be aware of things he'd done in the recent past.

Re: Support Skills

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Angel can speak a few languages, including Romance-based ones and Russian, as well as some demonic. It's never been specificed as to how fluent he is. He's done the research thing but he's better (and happier) if he's fighty. Also he's not inclined to follow unless the leader is damned good (e.g. his Buffy, Aeryn, Callisto... though these days Cal might be a problem ;) )

Re: Anyone I Missed

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Angel's fairly deft at pickpocketing, and somewhat good at lockpicking. Breaking & Entering is a problem if it's a private home he doesn't have an invite to, of course ;)

He's skilled at drawing which, combined with the photographic memory, means he can try to recreate things like passages in books if he's only glimpsed them once.

Though a doofus in many aspects of life, he's incredibly quick-thinking when it comes to creating instant aliases and alibis while on a case.

His past history as Angelus also means that he's very familiar with torture and evil. He can either recognize patterns of it when he sees it (e.g. "These victims were killed by someone who was doing it to enjoy themselves.") or use those torture skills on someone if they piss him off or he needs to force them to do something, like give him information.

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Peter has limited formal training from Aeryn Sun as a fighter. In addition, he had earlier honed a fighting style dependant on the flexibility allowed by his powers. With some formal training combined with his experience and powers, Peter is an extremely capable fighter. He can usually take most people in a fight unless he's in close combat with someone who really outclasses him in terms of strength or combat experience.

Re: Magic Abilities

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Willow is one of the most Mary Sue powerful witches in Buffyverse. Or, at the very least, she grows up to be. Right now she's still learning but, unlike the other Buffyverse characters, she has the raw magical talent to do the real bad-ass spells.

Right now her two perfect spells are disinviting vampires and resouling Angel. (According to canon, the disinvitation spell needs a proper witch, but a beginning witch is fine. Angel's curse, however, is a powerful spell and Willow's the only known person in Buffyverse who can do it.)

She also has telekinesis which she can use to move small objects (pencils, stakes) around with some accuracy, and I've had her practicing to show her gaining the ability that lets her move bigger stuff.

Canon-wise her magic so works at the speed of the plot, but she's got locator spells, she's worked on an instant-sunlight spell, she's got some fire-starting, and later on in canon she gets things like teleportation spells into the mix as well as telepathy.

There are also more powerful magics that she uses in later seasons, but the implication is that she got them when she dipped into dark magic and her spells wouldn't have been the same if she'd stayed on the right path. OTOH in s7 there's the implication that she was always uber-powerful and just needed to know how to control her magic properly so... yeah. Here's me quite happy to play Willow back when her spells still did the wacky from time to time.

Oh, and she's also known to hack spells to make them bigger, better, yellow, faster, different.

Re: Weaponry

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Willow's familiar with stakes and tranq guns, though she is by no means an expert with them. She's been learning how to use a sword with Peter dirty but if she was in a fight and could only use one weapon, stakes would be her most comfortable.

Re: Mutations

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Peter can cling to most surfaces, is strong enough to lift about 7 tons if he really pushes it, has enhanced speed and agility, and has a sixth sense that alerts him to impending danger

Re: Support Skills

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Willow has l33t computer hacker skills, she can reconfigure and program robots, she is a Scooby researcher extraordinare, and she's very good at organizing, be it information or a team.

Re: Support Skills

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Peter has a genius-level IQ, is an accomplished scientist for his age, and is very computer proficient.

Re: Weaponry

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Peter has very limited experience with swords now due to fencing club, very limited experience with bows thanks to Archery last summer, and plenty of experience with improvised weapons (generally municipal property ripped out of the ground to be used as a bludgeon) and his homemade webshooter.

His webshooter fires a superstrong adhesive that changes from liquid to solid states upon hitting the air and is generally used for binding or for use as ropes for swinging or pulling.

Re: Inherent Abilities

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
The Tick has superstrength (levels never clearly defined, but taken to be "as strong as needed for the plot or joke" and assumed to put him as being one of the very strongest people in Fandom, top 99th percentile, definitely), is really quite fast especially considering his size ("as fast as needed for the plot or joke"), and is nigh invulnerable (he can hold an exploding bomb without any ill effects except mild disorientation).

His antennae presumably do something other than keep him balanced. No clue what.

Re: Fighting

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
The Tick is an extremely capable fighter, due mainly to his strength and nigh invulnerability. For several years, he acted as the primary champion of The City, a city known for its high number of superpowered individuals, which puts him pretty high up the list of fighters, I think.

Jim is a fairly capable organizer. If necessary, he could lead a research team. That's about it.
