Brainstorming Post!
Picture me flailing in futile and exaggeratedly comic rage if it makes this whole comment redesign thing just an infinitesimal amount better.
You know how this works, right? Make with the storming of the braininess.
[[just wait for the OH GOD HOW IS THIS EVEN GOING TO WORK I DON'T KNOW AND I WON'T BE ABLE TO TELL FROM MY INBOX ocd, such as it is, is there. *weeps* oh, hell. get your redesign rage on in the ooc sorta-thread. DO IT.]]

There were going to be giant graphics here, but given how slowly the new comment pages seem to be loading I decided not to use them.
THIS RUINED MY MONTHLONG PLAN FOR MY OCD THREADS. :( (Also I can't remember to select icons with this stupid thing.)

OH GOD AND THE ICON SELECTION SUCKS SO HARD.

I liked the previous browse window. The one you can still see on Chrome. This one? NO.
Getting rid of my text drop-down? NO.
And the several-seconds lag of everything-ever? SO MUCH NO. A WORLD OF NO.

* You have to have a plus or paid account to make it work
* Minimalism style
* Georgia theme
* 2 column, sidebar on left (there is no sidebar, but you have to choose this layout to make the design work)
Then Customize, Custom CSS, and in the Custom Stylesheet box, paste:
That's from
(There's a version with a sidebar there too, but that reduces the space for comments.)
The only thing it doesn't quite fix is that screened comments aren't grayed-out (if it's your journal and you can see the screened comments). You have to look at the eye icon, and if it doesn't have the slash across it, it's screened.
The thing it utterly screws up is your journal layout, though, since the style carries over to journal view and friends view, so you lose all your pretty customizations.

In vain the "theme" at the comments removed.
It is in vain.
Whom it prevented?
It was fun and convenient.
Among other things, a lot of discussion it was possible to navigate among the branches of comments on topics not deploying all the branches.
Not to mention many other things. .. huge request:
Shove a new design of your assplease go back the "theme" in the comments.no subject
Not that I think it'll change anything, but if the Russians get ticked and take their business elsewhere, that'll sure show... somebody.

Irony is Russian, right?

In Russia, YOU ARE THE SUBJECT

I'm a programmer by trade, and I do a lot of programming of web pages. And I'd just like to say that the fact that the site works (more or less) in Chrome, but not Firefox, is a big indicator of HALF-ASSING the testing process.
Also, there is a LOT of Javascript running behind the scenes, now. The page isn't ready when your browser says it's done loading -- it still needs to go through and use script to edit lots of the stuff it's laid out on the page. And if you even breathe funny while it's doing that, something gets screwed up and the page doesn't work. When you build something that touchy, you need to test the crap out of it, and I don't think they did. Or they knew it was buggy and released it anyway.
I actually like the new design, and think it's pretty (and I know that puts me in the minority)... but FUCK, LJ, learn to QA your work!

As a programmer, then, what are the odds of this being something they'll roll back, vs. this is how it is, this is how it's staying, we should get used to it? I mean, how tied are they to this, going forward? How much of a paradigm shift is this, if it's all Javascript etc?
