Hey folks! A few months back, [livejournal.com profile] cantjossme was going to run an Academic Convention tied to an Assembly. With his permission, we're blatantly ripping off that idea and adapting it to take place in a single afternoon. That's right, this Friday will feature an Academic Fair. Indiana Jones, Professor Hubert Farnsworth, Flynn Carson, Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, Braniac... If you have a guest star who's all about knowledge, both gaining and sharing, we need 'em.

All of our guest academics will need to have a presentation of some sort. We're looking at a booth in the park kind of thing where they're there to lecture (a couple paragraphs on some subject), answer questions, etc. Of course, knowledge can be handwaved (no, you don't have to be a biblical scholar to do Indy's presentation, but that may help!). They'll have a thread to call their own, ping in there, interact with people who come by, that kind of thing. They will, of course, be able to get around and interact with other guests and share knowledge.

So, as is typical with these things, if you'd like to participate, please send in the following application to administration AT fandomhigh DOT net.

I apologize to anyone who was looking forward to this weekend. Unfortunately a few RL issues cropped up and any time I had to run this plot has completely disappeared.

So the convention is cancelled but might be rescheduled to run again sometime later this year.

I apologize for the late notice and any plans for this weekend. Disgruntled e-mail can be sent to my e-mail account and I can be flogged on IM.

Hi! Because I fail at life I forgot to remind people to sign up for the academic convention.

Yes the deadline was yesterday.

Shut up.

So you have until tomorrow at Midnight EST to submit an academic type character. Go. Now.

Also? I'll be needing volunteers for some NPC's for the event as well. If you'd like to jump in to the chaos please sign in below.

Mwah.

Please fill out the following application before March 31st. All comments are screened.

Application Ahoy! )

For those of you who were around last year, you'll remember that we had a Villain Covention come to town.

This year? We'll be having something a little different.

April 5th - 9th Fandom will be hosting a convention for academic type characters to come to our little island and enjoy our hospitality. And when I say academics I mean characters along the lines of:

Indiana Jones
Henry Jones Sr.
Wesley Wyndam-Pryce
Flynn Carsen
(And pretty much any interesting character you think might fit the mold.)

As a result of some academic tinkering it will result in a island wide event which will involve some fighting. For those people who do not wish to be involved in a brawl of somewhat interesting proportions an alternative entertaining activity will be provided.

I will be putting up an application post with screened comments for people to apply their academic characters. These characters have the option of giving a lecture for the conference or just attending to hear what people have to say.

The deadline for these applications is March 31st. (And I'm not changing it this time!)

Thank you for your attention. I now return you to "Anders and Wyatt: A love story in progress (even though they continue to deny it)"
